... ought to accumulate some good deeds, otherwise you may give birth to sons without arseholes."

"Damned nonsense," the stout man shouted back with a laugh. The girl smiled and walked out, locked the door, then turned and went into an inner hall.

"That must be Little Rose," Zhou Qi thought. "She's really shameless, but there's some truth in what she said."
Beijing, Beijing, China isuseful... people about. Interestingly there was no mention of any of the events that took place in 1989! No mention of tanks!! We then treked over to the other side of the Square to the Tiananmen Gate and the entrance to the Forbidden City.

The Forbidden City is HUGE! Trying to do a whistle stop tour around it in a couple of hours especially when you've come off the sleeper train at 6am and are pretty sleep deprived is probably not ...
Beijing, China lexmarshallI went to Beijing for a weekend with a group of my fellow CIEE students. On the train on the way to Beijing, I got my first ever marriage proposal. Here's how that happened: We were sitting together in seats, rather than in sleepers. We were completely surrounded by Chinese people, not all of them in seats, because you can buy tickets without a seat assignment as well (they're cheaper, but much less comfortable). On seatless, and clearly drunk man wandered up and asked the ...

Beijing, China joannachen... emergencies! So have managed to up grade a bit to hard sleeper, which is basically a bunk bed, which is fine as we can get a sleep as it is overnight and only 40 pounds for 2 of us! Thank god!! So anyway, this internet cafe has about 100 computers and people in it and no air con so gonna head into the centre and sit outside with a cold beer before we melt!! I hope everyone is well, Lots love Mhairi & Mark xx
Beijing, China marknmhairi... Utter rubbish. As is the rubbish about not being allowed into parts of the Forbidden City... yes there are about 100 rooms of the 9000 rooms there that you can't go in, but that's because they're being repaired. Anyway, there is no feeling of oppression. You can go where you like, when you like, without a problem at all. People will come up to you in the street and ask where you are going, but they're not the secret police, they're normal people genuinely wanting to ...
Beijing, China mrsdp... me with a day off which was sorely needed at this point. I slept the day away (I had no idea how tired I was) and then updated the blog while eating room service. I literally didn't leave my hotel room all day and only got out of bed to use the facilities. There were points during the afternoon where I thought I was wasting a day in Beijing, but then I'd fall asleep again before I could do anything about it! It was everything I thought it could be and so much more...

Beijing, China sgarfefurlansAaah - Hong kong - big place - fast train into the city, really hungover and missed most of it. Only had one night here and well, the little drinky we had the other night sort of ruled us out of doing anything today. Wandered out of the hotel around 9pm and had a walk up nathan road - it seems pretty touristy and as soon as we left the hotel ...
Hong Kong, China mbackho... simplest words possible to explain what I want. I tell him I want to call a toll free number. He doesn't understand that. He sees my cell phone that I'm wanting to troubleshoot, or something, when I call T-Mobile, and he says that I cannot use the house phone to call my cell phone. I tell him no, I want to call the company in the US. He understands this, and picks up the phone. I pull out my credit card to ask him if I could use this to pay, he says no, because ...
