    Eleanor goes off to school today, so Barb takes me on a tour of the area. Was a bit drizzly but that didn't detract from the sightseeing. was so glad that Barb was driving, road rules and one way streets etc beside still not used to the right hand side of the road driving...

    ... is the largest hydraulic lift lock in the world. Saw it operating to lift a little dinghy with outboard motor carrying two people, their dog and esky. Another big lift for a tiny vessel. There are 2 locks. The top lock has 30 cm more water than the lower lock which makes it heavier so that it's weight pushes the other lock up when it goes down.
