I flew down to visit some old friends who just got engaged, Justin and Emily. They recently moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida where the average age is about 81. To their credit, they do live right near the beach and have a boat docked about 200 feet from their house (The only reason I came to visit, but don't tell them). They had a new puppy that liked to steal pizza out of my hand ...

... is the Fort Pierce Inlet area. Surrounded by state parks, great surf beaches and family-friendly beaches, picnic areas, excellent fishing and boating opportunities, fantastic restaurants, both small and large hotels plus riverwalks along the parks and city center, this area offers something for everyone.

A more casual day today. Set off from Cocoa Beach and drove down the A1A (ie not the fast interstate road) adjacent to the coast. The journey is along a series of islands connected by bridges and very picturesque. Stopped off at Sebastian Inlet (a state park). Plenty of pelicans, herons, stone terns and other birds. A few people surfing and many others fishing. Weather has been gloriously hot - well into the 80s.

We are heading for the Keys again!! It is March 20th and we are on our way to Key Largo for some snorkeling and scuba, weather permitting. On our way south we went through Stuart, Florida where our friends Teddy and Richard and our new friends from the Keys, Joyce and Fred live. The newly constructed dinghy dock is up a small creek totally secure and protected and the floating concrete dock was always filled. ... I stayed there into the next post. One other thought. They changed the name of Cape Canaveral to Cape Kennedy to honor the former president . Then years later they changed it back. What's with that? I've seen things all over named after presidents but I have never seen them change it again anywhere else. Maybe they should hve installed one of those flashing roadside signs that you can change the letters on.
