The wake up was 7am, breakfast was in the large glass pyramide with the tropical trees and plants..and we left Vienna at 8.30am. Caught a bit of internet before we left to do a few last posts..some of the other bigger laptops could get internet on the bus which was parked outside the hotel, our..sadly couldn't. So we were off towards Salzburdg for too short a time which I was sad about. I was also a little sad that I hadn't looked up the weather in Salzburg/Munich before getting dressed ...
Wasn't too long a drive to Munich with a stop-off at Salzburg (nice city). In the afternoon had a few hours free time to look around the town centre. First time we have had rain this trip. Dinner was at a beer hall. Ended up skulling a 1/2 litre of beer at dinner and then one down in the Beer hall. Taped the one downstairs. 8 seconds. Still have it. No more beer ever.
Munich, Bavaria, Germany ka.duncanToday was another early morning as we have 3 countries today. We left Lucerne and made our way on the coach over to Mt. Stanserhorn. Arriving in the small town of Stans, we all got our funicular ticket that would take us all the way to the top of the mountain with views of the surrounding Alps. The entire group took this optional and we all boarded this little train that would take us to the furnicular. It was a very relaxing ride with cool crisp air mixed with the sounds of cowbells ringing...

... 8230; and giant beer tents. 830 we were in the tent, and all the "permanent" tables were already taken. We got tables in a different area but could only stay there until 12, which turned into 11, which turned into more like 1030. The first beer was served at 9am, and I think I can safely say that is the earliest I have ever started drinking (although it was 1am in Canada). Everyone knew it would be a long day, so ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany tidolu14Our arrival in munich with the realization i had left the electrical converter in rothenburg was disastrous according to the teenager. Knowing i was never going to hear the end of it i decided we had better find another, which i didnt think would be possible on a sunday after 5pm, but we went searching. Munich was alive, it was their 851st birthday and so a celebration was called for. The shops were also open and with some ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany lilbluaxelotl... main train station of Heidelberg. My train left in the afternoon for Frankfurt where my tour ended. I then took a taxy to my hotel seeing how i was exhausted like non other. I never really talked about my expierences to and from my trip riding the train. The scenery was beautiful and their trains were very comfortable and i enjoyed every minute of my trip very much. I never knew Germany was filled with so ...
Munich, Germany sammlange... meant brass bands playing directly under my hotel window! Fortunately they stopped at a decent hour, unlike those church bells. We spent the full day we had here on a cruise boat. (One of the many that make their way up and down this stretch of the river everyday. The stretch is all registered under UNESCO because of the many historic towns and castles.)Lots of very photogenic scenery. Unfortunately it was the first time we had hit any bad weather, it ...
Munich, Germany jess76... I made quite sure he was aware of all of these facts, after some of my trademark "diplomacy" he let me past. Had another McDonalds breakfast- for all my slagging off of Americanisation I am more responsible than most for it.- Wandered around- went on a free walking tour which went to a beer garden as a halfway point- saw a cool drunk black guy declaring himself Jesus and pointing at a girl in the tour group and yelling ...
Munich, Germany englishanddrunk... from New York All Week For most of the days I was at the hostel, there was a man from New York who seemed very out of place for a hostel environment. The man seemed to be very concerned about his room and his belongings and was trying toget all he could out of the hostel staff. He brought up issues about the one-key-per-room and him wanting to check out at 0500. The hostel staff kindly gave the gentleman straight-forward answers. While I respect the man's ...
Munich, Germany sjg209... He began the tour in perfect English. For the next hour (EUR 4 per person), he walked us all over town and told us the history of the town, described his job as night watchman, and in general, entertained us with his high energy and sharp sense of humor. It was an amazing tour and Rothenburg at night is beautiful. Here is a bit of what he shared: *** While the only people lower in the social hierarchy than the night watchman was the gravedigger and the executioner, he was trusted ...
