      ... complicated, but quite fascinating.

      The journey was interesting until it became dark, with mountain scenery and lots of switchbacks and tunnels. Shortly after dark, there was a long delay at the Greece/Macedonia border, whilst border control came through the train.       ... anywhere in the city. Our taxi driver had great English & we talked all the way back to the city centre. Taxis are a great way to get around, inexpensive though the lack of seatbelts is concerning. In the city centre we walked past Mother Theresa's Memorial home - she was born in Skopje, the Orthodox Cathedral, into the square with the statue to Alexander the Great- complete with a huge fountain & lions.       ... under 'GB'. Saw a rather ornate bridge so walked to the Art Bridge over the Vardar River, a fancy pedestrian path with figures from history on both sides. There is some local controversy on how much has been spent for the new statues and bridges.

      Spied U/K reading a book. Stopped and had a beer, Penny and Sue coming along. Penny asked if I was considering the Albania trip. She counts a short visit as a new country. Sue did not seem happy with that approach. ...
