The day started well with a very good
        breakfast at the hotel.
With the help of the Bell Boy, one of
few who can understand and speak English, we were given a

local area map and sent on our way to
explore the great complex of colonial buildings on Shamian Island in
        the Pearl River

The area is only about 0 …

The first full day in China we went downtown to the markets. It was so busy, the streets were so crazy. I was a little scared and didn't really like it. We visited two temples that day. One was under construction, but the other one had fish and turtles! After we made our way to a Thai restaurant and had some curry rice and spring rolls. Night. A tiny new moon in the sky. Seated in the leather backseat of a luxury sedan, while our chauffeur finds his way from Shenzhen to Canton. For hours the illuminated windows of futuristic highrises have been gliding by. By the way, I noticed that traffic in Lanzhou is definitely more 'assertive' than elsewhere. Here for instance, I have hardly heard any honking, and people give each other a little more space. The day already ...

Yesterday we went to chimelong paradise, a massive theme park in guangzhou. It was all Halloween themed and we had a great time. There was lots of water rides where you get totally soaked, you have to wear ponchos on them. Not like the ones in England where you hardy get wet. There was another ride where you sit like you're on a motorbike and it shoots you off really quick and then you go over loads of bumps! As it was Halloween there were lots of Halloween mazes with actors ...
