Initially the day was dark and damp but the clouds blew over and the sunshine came out. That made it very pleasant to sit in the bridge. It heats up quite nicely when the sun is out. Bart made a big batch of ginger and banana pancakes so we ate breakfast on the bridge. I know what he will be snacking on for the next few days.

... there were long stretches were we did not pass much in the way of civilization until we approached Decatur, Alabama. It got a little crazy at this point because of increased traffic, a low railroad bridge and some barge traffic. If you aren't aware, Decatur is a huge barge port. This is in the northwest corner of Alabama on the Tennessee River. It is the music recording mecca with many recording studios of lots of famous singers like: Little Richard, Aretha Franklin, Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Segar and so on.
