Leaving Joe Wheeler
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Harry and I launched "Newhouse" a couple of days ago from Joe Wheeler State Park and Marina on her maiden voyage. We left with two other cruisers, Jim and Barbie on their 28' Hunter and Jack on his 43' Albin.
We are making our way back to the entrance to the Tenn-Tom Canal which will take us to the Gulf of Mexico in Mobile Alabama.

Thank God for the TVA...
... and so we can see why the closure happened. We stopped for a Quiznos at lunch (where we had a French dip sandwich - Nom!) and the young girl behind the counter couldn't stop saying how beautiful my accent was (eh???) and how amazing it was to be from England. The town's people are so friendly and helpful but I don't think they can understand why we'd spend our honeymoon here.
