Then, when we got to the hotel, we noticed that the ice chest was leaking water. Turns out the plug had not been put back in when we emptied out the water this morning. Had to practically unpack the van (not easy, since it was piled full of souvenirs) and put up the seat to dry it out.
Our worst day by far. But we are dry now, and full from a steak at Texas Roadhouse, so all is good again......

John's friend, Adam, lives in Columbus and drove out to the laundromat to visit with us. He and John had a chance to catch up while we did laundry and then he offered to take us out for lunch. We went to this amazing little restaurant/ice cream parlor in downtown Charlestown (it started with a "Z", I don't remember the name though). I ordered a red raspberry Coke and a grilled cheese ...

It's been slightly sprinkling as we traveled across 252 to 31. We stopped 9:15 a.m. at Edinburg / Taylorsville and got breakfast at McDonald's before we got on I-65.
We weren't too far down the road when we ran into major traffic congestion. It was around 10:00 a.m. somewhere around Indiana mile marker 46. We couldn't tell if it was road construction or an accident causing the delay.
Well I am finally home and settled back in Columbus. It was an incredible summer and although it challenged me in many different ways, I could not be more thankful for the experience. By the time I arrived home I had been traveling for over 26 hrs, but in order to claim some sort of power of the jet lag, I had to stay up for as long as possible. When Dad finally handed me a glass of scotch at 11pm, that signaled a well deserved bed time. That was one of the best ...
