Hotel was well priced staff friendly but it would have been nice if they could have told me about the excursions that picked up from this hotel. La Mirada is quite a way from the airport. This was the only hotel that our 3 day San Fran trip picked up from and as the departure was 7am. I thought it best we stayed at La Mirada. I had independently booked a sightseeing trip of LA combined with a visit to Universal studios. It cost us an arm and a leg to take a cab to the meeting point. My point is I wished they had emailed me a list of excursions that I could have booked with them.

I gave the concierge the address and asked if he had any idea about how much it was going to cost. About $50 he said, and then added "You should have booked that trip with us, then you wouldn't have had to get a taxi." …

... footwork was clumsy as ever (even with the dinosaur trot). Plus, it was friggin scary. I was tripping out like a cold duck. So we took a couple of silly pictures, and scuttled back to the cabin. Moses downloaded 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs'... Bravo Mr Hutchinson. If you haven't watched it... DO.

So... it was a big, fat goodbye to Yosemite... and hello again, Hollywood. By golly... What a send off.

this evening we headed into downtown santa monica for dinner. the downtown area is a 20 min walk from our motel on main street. the whole downtown area appears new with all the usual high street brands but also lots of restaurants. on the way we pasted several public buildings and it's pleasing to see that some care has been given to gardens and green spaces around them. a fair bit ...
