We've had such a fabulous week in Ft. Myers! Spent lots of time reconnecting with Greg's Uncles Cliff and Steve and Aunts Agnes and Eleanor, who have a really nice timeshare condo on Estero Island, looking out onto the Gulf. Mid-week, Greg's Cousin Claire arrived, after her long drive down from Toronto.

Greg got in a couple of bridge games with Cliff and Steve and Eleanor; we celebrated Agnes and Cliff's 59th ...
Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, United States pykesonthego... fix it later when his shift was done, but he never showed up.
The staff must have went through a change, because only 2 people that I got to see were people that I've seen before ( a polite young woman and the nightshift lady).
The whole place went through a change, and not for the better, please try to avoid this place if you ever happen to come to Cape Coral, Fl.
Cape Coral, Florida, United States floridatraveler... high for great shelling today on the sand, but Bri & Gabi went in the water and dove for shells, finding lots of nice treasures. Squadrons of pelicans flew low across the waves, and groups of White Ibises marched along the wet sand probing for food with their long, downward curving bills. We had a great time, but headed back to the condo by mid afternoon so we could pack up and get ready to leave early on Tuesday.
Sanibel Island, Florida, United States lgthibWe ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Courtney's, then checked out. We drove to one of the public beach access areas and headed out to do some more shelling. We found more treasures! The girls went out at first in just shorts, but that didn't last long. There were signs on the roads to watch out for gopher tortoises...but we didn't see any!

We then drove on to Lake City to stay at the same Comfor Suites...still very nice!
Sanibel Island, Florida, United States jmburtonWe helped to break camp and then said goodbye to the grandparents. The girls and I then took a rainy drive to Sanibel Island...one of the best shelling beaches in the world!

We got right into our suits and headed to the beach. We picked up a bag full of different shells and Sarah was not feeling well. We then went to the pool for a bit then back to the room to rest before dinner. We ate at the Lazy Flamingo. Katie had fried oysters, Sarah had shrimp ...

Fort Myers, Florida, United States bethannk... We beat Dad, Mom, and Lu. Then Dad and I went out together and raced Gram Judi. It was going fine until the wind changed and Dad and I flipped over. At first I was scared, then I realized that the water was warm and not too deep. We flipped the boat over and kept on sailing. Now we are back in New York for a day or so, before we head to Nashville for grandmother visit number 2 and homemade chocolate cake!!!
Bonita Springs, Florida, United States zolab... have been better. It had been so windy that the ocean was stirred up and therefore visibility was limited. The campsite itself in Long Key was amazing as was the weather. Our rig was parked about 12 feet from the ocean and we could walk out and snorkel from our doorstep. We saw spiny lobster and much coral in the waters there. Port St. Lucie was our next "port of call" on the "Treasure Coast". We hung out here until December 3rd when we could ...
Fort Myers, Florida, United States roadrunners07... his way to bring me there. "What?" I say. "Well, let me atleast give you some money for gas." "Nah," the driver says. "Don´t worry about it. Just tell the people at your school you met some nice people today." He smiles and drives off, barely allowing me to thank him. (This took place in March 2000. I don´t promote everything in this scene, but it was an experience with a nice Floridian. And, as far as I´m concerned, it´s a much, much more positive scene than ...
St. Petersburg, Florida, United States modernoddyseus... and I from trying to convince the girls to stop by our place afterwards to hang out. My date, Dora, wanted to visit with us, but Amy was tired. Johnny said, "C'mon, Amy, Dora's down with Johnny-squared!" He continued the persuasion. "C'mon, Amy, you can meet my cats. I've got cats." Apparently, Amy really loves cats because she yelled again, "You're fuc*ing me!" Johnny joked playfully, "I hope so." The girls drove us home, and thank god ...
