Holiday Inn Select - Clearwater/St. Petersburg Airport

Today was "splash" day and we're in the water. The good news is the boat didn't sink and the bad news we're still trying to figure out all the systems. After agonizing over why we didn't have fresh water yesterday Jimmy pointed us to a black switch that we'd either not seen or mistaken for something else. ... about a small world. Last night we hit the Cortez Kitchen for dinner and enjoyed splitting a seafood platter and some key lime pie. Lots of places have Christmas trees and decorations up. We walked through a tent yesterday of beautiful fir and pine trees and I've noticed some places are saying the trees are imported from Michigan. Since we saw cars carrying them on their roofs when we were in Georgia we thought maybe they'd come from there.

... Wednesday but there’s a severe weather warning for Cortez just now - high winds and water levels and severe thunder storms - so we’ll see. Tomorrow we ditch the U-Haul and pick up our rental car at the Sarasota airport. We’re exhausted tonight but enjoyed the adjacent Tiki Bar and watched huge White Pelicans as well as their brown brothers before the sun set.

After 1450+ miles and three days in the U-Haul van we’ve arrived!

We pulled into the Best Western Manatee Hotel in Bradenton at 5:30 pm bone weary and sore with aches in places we didn’t know we had. However the weather was absolutely fabulous today - warm and sunny - and the U-Haul made it - so all’s well! We even have the same room that we occupied in July

So, Palm Harbor is the beautiful suburb in (or just outside?) Tampa where some of my family have settled. The life that Americans seem to live is a good one (speaking from a Floridian point of view of course cos thats all we have seen of the states so far). People are friendly, happy, relaxed and helpful and most want to know where in the South of Africa we are from as they know some one in the North of Africa (!) HAHA Shame that ...

Visited Fort San Marcos.,an old Spanish Fort.The guards have Spanish costumes.
Some of the walls are made of coquina.(shells and lime)
Visited again the Lightner Museum and visited the floor we missed yesterday.
Drove to Sun City,Florida.Ate at Sonny's Barbecue restaurant.
Stayed at Dr T's house in Sun City,Fla.

We made us a deal about the breakfast so we didnīt have to run around for that every morning. Little C is a breakfast eater when she open her eyes , she wants to eat. I am hungry, my tummy hurts, I am hungry now.

... We had three ocean view cabins on the Empress deck, forward port. My room number was E2. I wish I had pictures of the room to show everyone, but I wasn't the best picture taker back in the day. We immediately headed for the Brasserie Bar and Buffet. After a quick and delicious meal, we were off to the upper decks, taking pictures of the Tampa area.
