... to Lake Michigan and trying to control the fire by using buckets of water from there (lol) , not helping the situation was the fact that the majority of the buildings were built by wood so fire would have a pretty bad effect on them... and then when the fire reached the fire dept one of the only buildings made of stone...the roof was still made of wood so when that caught fire there was no hope and the fire dept was burnt aswell!
