From lunch it was only a 30 minute drive to Athens, TX and the R.V yard where Fred and Mike bought our 5th Wheel in 2007. We were greeted like long, lost friends by Lex, the parts guy who Fred has been in touch with on e-mail for well over a year, so it was neat to meet him finally. We ...
... cover that can cut their pads), but the warm winds feel good. Donna and I spent an afternoon at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Bison (Tahtonka!), long-long horned cattle roaming free, and unusual birds. The cattle around the park headquarters were especially friendly - they would come right up to the windows and look at you, and lick the glass to give you a big kiss!
Wichita Falls, Texas, United States tmdj... I'll go traveling again, but this time southeast to the distant land of Frisco, which is where I work. It's a long a arduous drive, but it's okay, because I always keep a health pack and camping gear in my car, just in case I get attack by rabid armadillos or if I can't find a hostel to stay in on the way.
We got up a little early to start our drive to Texas. We took a few final pictures and said our goodbyes. It was such a wonderful week of spending time together and seeing the sights. We were sad to leave. We drove through some rain as we left Albuquerque, but other than that, the weather was very sunny with a few puffy clouds. We drove on I-40 back to Amarillo, which was the same as on the ...

From there we made our way to Arcadia, OK. There was a ton there, ok well, by Route 66 standards anyways :-) The first stop was to OK County 66. It's this guy that has built small replicas of many of the icons along Route 66. It's kind of odd seeing so many of the icons in one space, but we took a few minutes for pictures ...
Wichita Falls, Texas, United States adeana... Sadly I couldn't fit him in the van. Then we went to this round barn where I got 5 hot wheels cars that I get to play with. Then we went upstairs where you can have weddings and auctions. When you stand in the middle in sounded like there was a microphone, but when you walked out it sounded regular. After that was a gas station/soda pop place called Pop's . They FIVE HUNDRED different kinds of soda. Then we went to this church called Lifechurch for 20 minutes ...
Wichita Falls, Texas, United States adeanaAfter Memphis, we flew to Dallas(Witchita Falls) where we spent 3 days with a friend from Oslo. The temperature was SO hot, you could hardly stay outside for more than 20 minutes. Thank goodness for the pool. We enjoyed great company and thoroughly enjoyed some home-cooked food. It was nice to relax after a hectic few months travelling.
Wichita Falls, Texas, United States jorgen_anne... but no on there and we couldn't find anyone who took fees!!! Really lonely though--we counted only 3 campers in the whole park. So... we will save this one till we have someone travelling with us. Tom called at noon. Said the entire state was posted with severe warnings and advised us on how to stay current on weather emergencies. So we will ...
Elk City, Oklahoma, United States rongray... can sure smell sweet when wind comes right behind the rain ... Oklahoma" ... actually, we've driven clear across the state and what we've seen is more oil derricks than Texas, cotton and peanuts. In fact, most of the advertising on commercial radio has been for peanut grubbing blades, cotton defoliant and salvation. Oklahoma City is host to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. We thought ...
