Down from the tower in one piece, we walk to the next, smaller tower, where we encounter a family group who want to take our photo. One of them is a young woman who speaks excellent American-accented English, and we quiz her about the bus to Chengde. She is not from here, but she asks her family group, but no one seems to know anything about it.

Jessica, the CLO at the centre got us a driver to take us to Dragon's Head, Qinhuangdao, where the Great Wall goes onto the sea. We left at 7am and got there at 12.30. After a long time I think my sister has fallen asleep. Now I'm waiting for the rest of my trip to ...
Yeah, time to catch the bullet train from Beijing out to the coast. We decided to book a train station transfer from the hotel through a tour guide. So grateful that we did. The train station was so busy that we had not even contemplated the complete madness of it. All we had to do was what we were told and basically stand in a line and wait for our train. Mike says he now understands what a sardine feels like. ...
