... and provisioned for the trip.

We went to Max's Mom's spare apt to separate out the provisions into three packs, napped and went over our route and plans. Woke in time to head to the airport to pick up Alex, I got to see Max and Meg again and meet little Anderson before we took off for SeaTac.

Picked up Alex on time and headed out to Taco Bell and the Econolodge of Buckley, WA!

... the day would have to be the bears. In particular, the Giant Pandas and the Polar Bears. We saw a Giant Panda and her cub. Mum was asleep and the cub up a tree. While we were there, the cub climbed down the tree and tried to wake up mum. I have tried the same with Wendy with limited success but with the same grumpy result. The Polar bears were really cool also. One was playing with a barrel in the water. Awesome to watch! ...

... mile marker 119, then 40, then 10, 6, -4, -10, -15, -28 at mile marker 130. We drove through Imperial Valley which is a huge agricultural area. As we got into the mountains, our highest elevation was at the Tecate Divide at 4140 ft. Of course, it was much cooler, at 66 degrees. We went through a Border Patrol Checkpoint and descended into San Diego quite quickly. We arrived at our motel in San Diego around 5:30. A long and busy ...
