3rd - 14th December 2007. Our time in San Fran was at an end so we pointed the PT Cruiser south and headed down the famous Highway 1 scenic coastal highway. Ended up buying a guitar on the way home which I'm sure will prove valuable for the rest of the trip. Next it was off to LAX for our flight to the Cook Islands. This afternoon we just wandered around the neighborhood watching all the strange people on this beach - everything from street performers to people in costumes on roller blades, to tourists and homeless people. The weather was not quite as warm as we had expected and hoped for. A cold front from Alaska had swept over California, leaving us with temperatures of between 10 and 15 degrees. Not exactly ...

If you've ever seen the recent popular american tv show ''The OC'', this place looks exactly like the beach side in many of the scenes. Many popular surf shops nearby like Billabong and Hurley, a long peir streching out over the water with restaurants and stores on the end, expensive parkinglots close to the shore, tonnes of people tanning surfing and playing in the sand, and large sidewalks on the beach to walk, skateboard, jog, bike and inline skate on.
