    Totally Screwed Up Reservation

We will not stay here again! Mixed up our reservations, despite follow up phone calls, double charged the credit cards, no tissue in room, phone didn't work, ice machine on floor didn't work, and door to room stuck - had to shove open and slam shut. Management was very lackadaisial about it - his attitude was that is just the way it is.

    Voll okay

... of the freeway. Las Vegas is kind of at the bottom of Nevada and so it only took another hour and half till we were in Utah. What's weird is this corner of Nevada, meets Arizona and Utah so within an hour you can have crossed 3 states! Although this is still the desert the rocky hills lining the freeway had began to get a beautiful reddish tinge.

By 2pm we were surprised that we'd arrived in St George in Utah our stop for the night. Originally the plan was to ...

... walked back to the lodge along the Virgin River for lunch. Our second walk commenced from the further most point in the park which we used the shuttle bus to reach and commence the walk which followed the river to the narrowest part of the Canyon. We caught the shuttle bus back to our hotel to pick up the car and headed off for St George Ramada Hotel for the night. Another fantastic ...

Zion is a huge canyon with steep sides and a winding river running along the bottom - much like the Grand Canyon further to the south but not as long. breathtaking in its scale, it makes you feel very small.
Bryce is where you find bizarre sandstone sculptures known as hoodoos. The high side of the canyon that you travel along reaches a peak in height of around 9600ft above sea level - ...

I did eventually finish the race. But, the Easter Bunny did pass me at mile 24. Not making that up....some guy in an Easter Bunny outfit passed me with some website written on the back. Let me tell you - non-Easter thoughts ...

... ranch, horses, etc. Should have photographed it because you can't imagine how beautiful it is in light of what appears to be the setting a couple of hundred feet above it. Beginning to see a lot of cactus for the first time. Seems that reach a certain elevation and they are no more. Of course, Lynn had to take some pictures of them. One picture is at a trading post that is kinda kitchy.
