... inspection and a notice giving it's intimate dimensions. Far more spectacular was the view back down over Roanoke, we could pick out our land marks, the Wells Fargo building, the Hilton and even our motel beyond. Now, had we a telephone enabled with data roaming, we could have looked into the cam recorder at the centre of the star and beamed our presence back to you all, now that would have made your day we expect. Instead we went and saw ...

... minutes to reach it and it rose from the surrounding suburbia and thrust us on to a mountain road that seemed miles from anywhere. There is a 45mph speed limit throughout it's length and quite honestly the deciduous trees give a feeling of driving through England, not unlike the New Forest. Some of the views are quite breath taking, one such place was the bridge across the Roanoke River. The bridge spanned the river from very high up, we thought it ...

It's a nearly 6 hour drive to a town (or city as Americans like to call all towns) called Roanoke. We chose the place because it is located in a valley between the Smoky Mountains, the Shenandoah National Park and of course the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The journey was a lot more scenic than some as we climbed at times through the passes carved out of the rock to form ...

... Farmsville. Lots of people bought a lot of food. I didn't think I needed any more snacks but as we had 2 hours until getting to the hotel, probably after 7pm I got cheese and crackers. Had a look at the sporting section again, bigger selection of guns this time. Finally got to the hotel. Went down to pool while doing laundry. Water cool for once. We went to the bar for dinner and had the ribs. They were delicious. Trying to get an early night. Big day of driving again ...
