Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany marggraf... in Cologne which is where I was supposed to be today.
I would have gone to stay with Laura last night except for the fact that the family I lived with decided to go and get vaccinated for the swine flu and are now reacting to the vaccine. I'm glad to say that I chose not to get the vaccine despite some pressure from the family to go ahead and do it. I just don't trust people to put diseases into my body without testing them for a good long ...

Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cariverga... the last to leave (last Sunday) and I already miss my amazing friends! I know my house mates do too, especially Kirsten who had taken a shine to each and every one.
Now I'm back to my regular schedule, and am amazed to find that I am home for Christmas in just six short weeks! It's amazing how fast the time is flying. Still I'm meeting new friends, learning new words (new favorite, Arschkriecher means "Brown-noser." Those of you with some ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans... lot of fish and a lot of bread. Friday nights are a very important night for traditional Jews, we celebrate Shabbat which means that we have dinner as a family if guests are not here, if guests are here they eat with the family and I usually do my own thing. Before dinner is a song/prayer, then they wash their hands in a certain ritual, then they are silent, another blessing, then bread and "wine". There is ALWAYS fish on this night.

11.) Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany torilusk... then went back to the hostel and read and made some dinner. We planned to do a nice walk into the forest from Freiburg the following morning but it was pouring rain so we packed it in and headed to Cologne.
We were thinking of doing a day trip from Cologne to take a boat ride down the Rhine. However, when we set out on the train from Freiburg to Cologne we found that the trainline runs right along the Rhine on the most interesting section according to ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany steveandwhitney... which makes it tough. Good practice. Since I've been here I've picked up on words in several languages. Looks like I may get a chance to learn some Hebrew which is cool. Tanya says it's pretty easy. I'm accidentally learning Italian from Carla and my Spanish is improving thanks to Maxi. I'm also learning Yiddish on accident, so If I end up on the East Coast at a bagel shop I'm totally covered. Anyway...not much to report.
Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cariverga... follow. Already we're making plans for an amazing American-style Halloween!
I hope everyone is doing wonderfully! I miss my friends and family terribly, but am absolutely loving every minute on this great continent. It will be several weeks before friends leave and things calm down, but I will write again as soon as I can, to not only tell you more adventures, but give you a little taste of how my day to day life is working in Germany. I send my love, and will write soon!
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans... like it had a lot of potential. One thing I dislike about Bonn is, like Düsseldorf, it has a pathetic U-bahn system. The trains are tiny, short and look like little trams. In Düsseldorf I suspect they used to be trams, although I'm not so sure about Bonn. This aside, we caught the U-bahn out to the German Museum of Modern History, which even featured the carriage that an accord was signed in (can't remember which one, but just trust me, it's important, okay?). The ...
