Excited to attend December Nights in Balboa Park

My kids just love the Balboa Park. December Nights in Balboa Park is one annual family event we try to enjoy every year. So this time we are going to San Diego to check out the festivities in Balboa Park on December 4th and 5th. Balboa Park is delightfully lit up with sparkling lights. The best part is a chance to savor lip smacking delicacies from different countries ranging from ...

Update on LA, San Diego & Tijuana

... the shape and face of Tijuana heavily so everywhere you look, you see mexicans hawking their wares. Yes the weather sucked as well, (raining and overcast) so it was VERY cold. I guess it was ok that way, as there was not many people going across, as opposed to summer. Kirsty, Laura & I made our way to Downtown Tijuana and found a corner restaurant that looked ok. Walked inside and my heart melted. It was authentic Mexico through and through. From the decorations ...

Maritime Museum and Gaslamp Quarter

... remember the Seaport Village and the Marriott Hotel we stayed in.

From there we drove to the Gaslamp Quarter. We had pizza and watched football in a tiny corner shop for Thanksgiving dinner, then went to the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. Logan had a regular ice cream sundae and I had a peanut butter and dark chocolate sundae. A good food day and a lot to be thankful for.

The 2nd most dangerous place in Mexico

... or in as they would do it tomorrow at the airport. We looked at each other a little surprised, more so than not because with the strictness of the states you would have though that being stamped out would be essential (but thinking about it now the same thing happened a few years ago when we drove from new york to Toronto we never got stamped out either... i dont think they care who leaves it just the ones who want to get in have to endure the ritual interrogation) but we were told no ...

Tijuana Mexico, walking across

... case of you running into him. As I walked back through the corridor of US entry, I reached a line of only 100 people or so waiting to return, and that's a small line compared to the usual long lines, and yet I couldn't help hearing many of course us people complaining that they had to wait 5 flipping minutes. Customs agent as always asked me if anything to declare and let me through, got my stuff x-rayed and walked through. Well back in the USA things resume back to the usual.

Hey Amigo! We're off to Tijuana, MEXICO!

... They said just wait for the next bus, and didn't seem to get our urgency straight away. I was annoyed the bus left early 4:10 instead of 4:30 apparently, so there fore was not reliable, which is why we were stuck now. Eventually one of the young very nice Mexican men got the drift, and thankfully said he would take a bus in now as there were more people waiting - but it was already 4:45pm by now! We jumped on the bus, up right next to the bus driver to find out the go with the ...

Day trip across the border into Mexico!

... the border, we were shown our meeting spot on a map and left to go off and explore. I felt a little uncomfortable as we were two 22 year old Aussie girls but I never got to the stage of feeling scared. The funniest thing we saw was the first place we walked past, McDonalds. The sign in the window basically said 2 Big Macs for $59. It sounds ridiculous but when you convert to Mexican currency, it basically boiled down to $6. My friend ended up ...

The 72 stairs to heaven...

... the trip into the city and such. Tomorrow we have to go back to our positions for about an hour and a half and be shown exactly what we will be doing and have some training, then at 3pm we are free to do what we want. Actually at 5pm there is a parents dinner, and for some reason they will not let students be in the area. It's for parents only. So you either have to stay in your room or go into the city. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do, possibly go to the theater with some ...

San Diego...

... South roads A Street, B Street etc... That's just lazy! Not much more to tell about my trip to San Diego, although would have loved to stay there for longer! I would definitely recommend it for a visit though. Never made it to the big attractions like the Zoo or water parks (think they were closed for the season!), but plenty to do in the Downtown area! After 4 days down the coast, I headed back off to Los Angeles and the Hollywood International Hostel - adventure continues soon...
