Lewis and Clark struggled to get thru this pass in September 1805 due to early and very heavy snow. When they made it they were in prairie of Idaho and went onto Columbia River basin and the Pacific. They came back thru the pass in June 1806 ...

... suggested we check out site 32 on top of the "mountain". This was the nicest campsite we have ever had in all our years camping! 360 views of the area and beautiful views of Snake River. The temperature was absolutely perfect mid seventies, no humidity and NO BUGS!!!!!!! A nice bbq dinner, an adult beverage (ok, maybe 2) and sleeping with all the windows open, PRICELESS!!!!!!
