... later in August which the guides on the tour seem the laugh at as people think that was the official that was read out...
Linda had a real hassle on this tour with the accent of the guide. She gave up half way thought and just told me to translate the whole thing to her when I get a chance.....another classic.
After the tour was complete we ran through the rain and headed over to the Liberty Bell center and checked that out.....Took a few ...
Got up at approx 7am with the mobile phone alarm going off......
Linda decided to stay in bed as I had a shower and warned up a little before heading to the tourist sites again before the bus loads of tourists all got there.
First up was the Whitehouse with a coffee from Macca's of course as a stopover of course.
When we got to the gates we started to take some pics. I decided to set up the tripod (all of 10cm high ...
... it rained too so at least we stayed dry in transit.
Got on the bus (www.boltbus.com) and headed to Philadelphia. The bus has a powerpoint and also WI-FI so we were able to check email etc. and I caught up on these......
Andrew (Linda's friend) picked us up and the station and gave us a quick tour on the way home.......already 1:30 am so time to sign off again.....Will upload pics soon.
Need to sort out a trip down to Washington DC tomorrow as time is short everywhere!!!
Just a quick one to say hi to all my mates from another US city of the revolution (a couple of hundred years ago) now the city of Brotherly Love & soft cheese ! Have spent a few days eating and drinking and catching up with Andy's former life / acquaintances etc - lots of rowing talk and seemingly collecting specimens for a stacked boat at Henley 2010. Back to London on Monday night and work shortly thereafter yeuck.
... and I would have liked to have seen the bell... but, oh well, next time maybe :)
The theatre we were playing was the Irvine Auditorium at University of Pennsylvania. The space was gorgeous. Not a lot of stage or wing space, but the theatre itself was stunning. Clearly it used to be a Cathedral, and now is used for orchestral concerts (amazing accoustics!) and theatre. Funny how that seems to be a recurring theme in history :)
Dear Family and Friends,
I am making my first entry into a travel blog that Christi and Dan set up last night. We are leaving today for Los Angeles California and tomorrow will attend the Agape Sunday service. I am looking forward to ...
... and honoring those who died and suffered that winter. The National Park Service comes through in achieving this.
If you go, spend the extra cash on a tour, or drive your car through the park. I spent the day on foot exploring the grounds and it was a big mistake. I was there for hours, exhausted from the walking, and didn't get to see everything because I gave up mid-way through my self-guided tour. (As ...
... in climate appropriateness. Roughly, you need a passport, a Rick Steve's travel book (thanks Julia!), an ATM card, a stuffed beagle to snuggle with, a box of chocolate chip energy bars, and a new hoodie to keep you warm. I buy a new hoodie for every trip I go on. This trip I opted for a black Burton zip-front hoodie with a waffle texture. I like waffles, and the free speakers for the hood sold me. Why Switzerland? Another excellent ...
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States jdet32We drove into Philadelphia yesterday evening, so we were able to take in all the sights today before our show. We stayed right downtown, only a few blocks from the beautiful City Hall. I walked down Market Street to check out Independence Hall. Known primarily as the location where the Declaration of Independence was debated and adopted, the building was completed in 1753 as the Pennsylvania State House for the Province of ...
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States ericalee... of zo - Kammenstraat of Agora-gallerij.
