... store where Bob wanted to pick up a rod and fishing tackle.
The next day, November 3, we sailed to Bluewater Yacht Marina in nearby Hampton to top off our fuel and water tanks. Bob’s family stayed there that night, opting for the more pleasant conditions and amenities of a marina for their final night before our grand adventure. Pas de Deux returned to anchorage at Willoughby Harbor. Dave offered to pick up Bob ...
Today Josh competed at the Dawn of the Shred. He did OK. Of course I can quote many many pro skateboarders who also said, they lost their first competition as well. All I can say was Josh had the nervous jitters during his second run, and his knees kept giving out just before a trick.
The first run went fine! He did well and landed all of his signature tricks, except at the ...
... had popped out earlier). The sail was given a clean bill of health and measurements were taken for a new genoa which Dave anticipated replacing in the relatively near future. On October 15, the electronics representative came out to troubleshoot the B&G full function display unit. His verdict was that the unit was bad and needs to be replaced or rebuilt in order to regain its full functionality. In the meantime, its basic functions work and are ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... that road trip. I checked the oil, and left the last few days for us to say our goodbyes slowly as well. It took the edge off of saying our goodbyes, made it easier. Josh spent the last 3 sunny days before the competition skating at mt Trashmore. He felt good about his skating, and pushed his own limits.
Josh's friends from around town stopped by at Brandon's place where we spent the last 2 weeks of October hanging ...

I highly recommend deep sea fishing in Virginia Beach with Waterman Sportfishing. Next time you are in Virginia Beach you can find them at 757-753-3113. I believe they dock the boat at the Va Beach Fishing Center, 200 Winston Salem Ave., Virginia Beach VA 23451
... in nothingness. The bridge/tunnel seemed to go on forever, and shimmer in the heat billowing off the cargo ships parked in the bay waiting for something. It was a beautiful nighttime view, the Cape Henry city glowing in the background. Lights twinkled, and flowed like a 24 hour skate park, with it's curves and ledges setting the mood for the night. The talks came and went like the waves of the bay, intermittent and sporadic. This ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjosh... We headed over the south tunnel then back via the north tunnel, flying the spinnaker for the run toward the Hampton Bay Bridge tunnel in winds up to 20 kts. Good thing we had Pete along to help douse the spinnaker which can be challenging in high winds!
During the remainder of the month, Dave replaced the suction and discharge filter housings on the watermaker. Apparently some air leakage prevented the watermaker from developing full pressure and ...
... Bay on the Piankatank River arriving just before 4PM after a pleasant sail with partly sunny skies and N NW wind 12-18 kts. We spent the following day laid up in Fishing Bay due to stong NE winds and rain. Dave cleaned the props and barnacles off the hulls. We started the watermaker for the first time since it was “pickled” years ago by the prior owner. The quality of the water seemed good but we were ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... dodging a number of REALLY BIG ships and going past the Naval shipyard we docked at Portsmouth Boating Center. Then the crews of s/v Paloma and s/v White Wave II finally joined up in person, had a wonderful dinner at Brutti's and then crashed. It had been a long two days, especially for Paloma! Next stop - Buck Island, North Carolina.
Portsmouth, Virginia, United States kvkrusader... the outside. While my husband and I were doing that, my husband saw a man giving out some tickets. Learning from my experience at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, my husband quickly approached the man to find out whether he, in fact, has some tickets to give away. Yes, he was giving out extra tickets to people to take the elevator to the top of the Monument in a moments' notice. (My guess is that the Monument reserves a limited amount of tickets for each ...
