Landed and first day
Felling slightly awkward because its 10 in the morning here and 11 at night at home. Everyone's wearing shorts in December and the sun is actually out. Came from the airport to the Holiday Inn by taxi which was an interesting journey. Normally you see pigeons in the streets back home but instead there were miniature storks, squirrels were replaced …
Australia on the way home!
26th December
It was really sad leaving Jackie in Nelson, but it was only 6 hours later when we landed in Sydney, after two flights. The weather in Sydney was not the hot bright sun that I had been expecting, but cloud and overcast. Nevermind, we checked in to the hotel, had another battle with a hotel receptionist over inter connecting …
On our way!
So our adventure begins! We arrived at Perth Domestic Airport yesterday morning at 4.10 am for our 5.45 flight, and were probably the first people to check in! The flight on Virgin Blue was surprisingly comfortable; the plan wasn't very full and we were able to have three seats to ourselves; so we were able to spread out nicely. We arrived down at …
2nd day in Sydney
Dave woke me up at 6.00am this morning, because "he doesn't want us to get into a bad habit of sleeping late"!!!! I hope that resolution doesn't last long! After reading the Sunday paper in bed, we wandered down to a dear little café for a brekkie of three fried eggs on toast; and then off to catch the ferry to Darling Harbour. There were already …
Day 59 – Back To Sydney
Because the train to the Melbourne airport is not built yet we had to take a $65 cab ride to make our flight on time. Our flight was uneventful and we arrived back in Sydney around 10am, gathered our luggage and took the metro 5 stops to The Circular Quay in the harbor. This cost $16 each. Really? We are still amazed at how expensive Australia is. …

Very Clean, Beautiful Hotel. There is a rooftop pool and spa overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Id stay here again. The only thing that isnt great is that there is a high charge for Internet.

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Old Sydney
TERRIFIC HOTEL
For the location, price, and amenities, you can't beat the Old Sydney Holiday Inn. The Rocks Weekend Market is just outside your door, the staff is courteous and helpful...the rooftop sauna, heated pool and views are stunning. We enjoyed breathtaking sunrises and loved walking out the door to Circular Quay. Close to everything and will highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.
Great location
Just got back from Australia, spending the first 2 days at this hotel. Wish we had booked it for our final 3 days after our travels around Australia. It had the best location. We were able to walk to most attractions and just walk out the door and you are on George Street where all the shopping is.The hotel is the nicest holiday inn that I have stayed in. The staff was the greatest. I would stay at this hotel again.
Perfect
Perfect for our requirements. Staff accomodating friendly and helpful. Location great for walking to most locations and ambient for pedestrians. Rooms and facilities provided everything for a comfortable and luxurious overnight
Very nice, great location
The location and value can't be beat. Not too many king sized rooms. If you want one, book early. Rooms are clean and have everything a busy traveler needs. We would stay here again.
Location and value
Just spent four nights in Sydney at this Holiday Inn....staff were all very helpful and nice. The concierge got me a ticket to the Opera on short notice. My room had everything I needed and a great view, with a window that opened. What a terrific location.....near the ferries, and the Opera House, and the bridge. The Rocks rock, and so does the Old Sydney Holiday Inn. I'd recommend it.

what a pleasure to find a reasonably priced, comfortable hotel in such a magnificent location. The room was bright and fresh, better than I expected from a corporate chain hotel.Food and service were of a high standard and the staff were all genuinely pleasant.Best thing though has to be the close proximity to all of Sydneys premier attractions and the incredible view from the roof terrace.Highly recommended!
Old Sydney Inn - Holiday Inn
Spent 8 days in Sydney, and this was the perfect place to stay! In the rocks, inexpensive and comfortable. We do not like to spend $$ on hotel rooms - we never are in them! Having the weekend market right outside the door was great! A 5 minute walk to the ferries, and the best breakfast in town at the City Extra across form the ferry landing. Would recommend this to anyone!
Totally Fantastic
Beautiful room with fantastic view. Location ideal with easy walk to Circular Quay and Opera House. Would definately stay here again.
Wonderful location
Friend and I stayed there in 1998. It was a lovely hotel and located within walking distance of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. However, I believe it's not called the Old Sydney Park Royal anymore. The new names eludes me at the monent.
Amazing location!
Lovely hotel with roof top jacuzzi and sauna overlooking the opera house and the bridge - we had it all to ourselves - amazing views. Big rooms, great food. Perfect for exploring sydney.
