25km, 14-26deg, cloudy but fine. Poor old Nuremberg was punished for being Hitler's favourite city and the centre for his Nazi regime. The allies bombed it mercilessly leading up the the end of WWII. However the Germans are a resilient bunch so over the decades since then they have re-built this place to somewhere near its former glory. The city centre has a lovely mix of old and new and the Old Town walls from the 15th century are just about fully intact. After a ...

Lovely day again although the programme said there was a 60% chance of showers in the afternoon. Excellent guide today. When the tour was finished we could go back to the boat or skip going back for lunch and get picked up at 3pm. We decided on the latter. First thing we did was get a "bier" und ein "eischokolatte". We were so full after that we decided not to bother going for a meal and just have a sandwich later before returning to the boat. It was really hot. 26 ...

We left Thüringen behind and entered Bayern today. We arrived in Nürnberg around 11 and headed straight to our hotel. We knew there was parking there and I am tired of driving in these European towns! The hotel was super sketchy. It's on the 4th and 5th floors above an apartment complex. I didn't go inside with her, but Aunt Marge came out saying it smelled like smoke and seemed dirty and she wasn't sure what we were getting ourselves into. Still, we decided ...

... the trial of the major war criminals before the International Military Tribunal (IMT). Held between 20 November 1945 and 1 October 1946, the Tribunal was given the task of trying 23 of the most important political and military leaders of the Third Reich, though the main accused, Herman Gorring Hitlers right hand man and designated successor committed suicide the night before his execution.
The trial was agreed to and organised primarily by the ...
