We left Crittenden Kentucky this morning at 9 AM, traveling south on I-75 and picking up I-40 in Tennessee. It was pretty much a standard travel day for us, covering about 250 miles total, with a half hour or so lunch stop around Noon time. We stopped at a very busy Tennessee Welcome Center (that's where we made our sandwiches and ate lunch) to pick up brochures so we could make good use of our one day in the Smoky Mountains ...
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States pykesonthegoYesterday was a pretty relaxed day of driving, minus the extreme sticky southern heat. This stuff the horribly disgusting!!!!! We only made a few stops, one was to get our normal beer and glass, we tried to get one at a few places in Nashville but we struck out a lot. So we stopped in Knoxville and we finally got one. After that our mission was complete. We got back on the road and headed to our destination Pigeon Forge, home of ...
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States nicandjessicaOK, so we decided to take the resort up on their 'come hear our time share spiel & we'll give you a gift'. They promised an hour. I know better than to do these things, but still, I did it. Guess enough time had passed since the last time I did this & I'd forgotten how much I hate it. So we go, listen to how they don't sell time shares anymore they sell these, well, time shares, really ...
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States bonnieb805No pictures this day. I decided I didn't want to bring the camera in case we got wet, then spent the day chastising myself for not bringing it. Could have gotten some great shots.
Highlight of the day was when we went to see the 'Wings Of America' show (a birds of prey show) at one of the pavilions there. Had all sorts of birds of prey. Beautiful birds. Those of you that know me however know that I have this ...
OK, this is our first visit to the time share. It's really nice, with several amenities. Check in wasn't until 5pm so our first day was pretty much just get here, unpack & spend an hour or so at the pool. One gentleman we met here has been coming for 20 years & gave us some tips on how to avoid the crowds and where to go that's a little off the beaten path. We took advantage of that today, starting off down a place ...
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States bonnieb805We arrived in Gatlinburg last night after fighting an immense, intense amount of traffic through Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Let it be known: I do not find these two towns to be enjoyable destinations. They are a strange fusion of stripmall alley in Crystal Lake combined with Wisconsin Dells combined with Universal Studios. Everything in these towns is on the same road, so the traffic is out of control--as too is the case in Gatlinburg, but ...
