... nurses who seemed like they would much rather be somewhere else.  Like sleeping.  Or more likely, eating.  The only thing that kept them in control was the CEO sitting in on the Leadership talk too.  The talk started out strong and was interesting but quickly deteriorated the second or third hour in.

Cleveland Regional Medical Center, part of the Carolinas Healthcare System, hosted the lecture today for emergency and critical care nurses.  That's Scott lecturing on GI.  I went just before speaking on Neuro problems.  The glassy eyes are from the current lecture.  

Ah, North Carolina is beautiful with the trees and hills.  We drove to Shelby, picked up Scott and went to eat at Fatz Restaurant.  They have fried green tomatoes on grits.  They have shrimp on grits.  And sweet tea.  I had the sampler with ribs, shrimp, and their homemade chicken strips.  

Originally we had been going to take the only road through the National Park, into Tennessee and then north. But after much studying of the map we decided instead to go back out the way we went in and then pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway to head north. We did the short section of the Parkway which cuts through the middle of the Cherokee Indian Reservation and then as the Parkway went someway south to go back north again, and we had done half of that section the other ...

Tonight, Chris's lil' bro, Josh came to the show with some friends from college. It took three hours from the University of TN to Morganton, NC. Josh and four of his friends took a little road trip to see me! And they drove all the way back after the show. Wow, what a group! It was nice to have family out in the audience! Should have taken a pic, sorry! P.S. THREE MORE SHOWS, and THREE MORE DAYS TIL I COME HOME FOR A WHOLE WEEK!

Today we visited the Old Orc******* Altapass (off the Blue Ridge Parkway) www.altapassorchard.com which has been operating as an apple orchard for 99 years. We cruised through the gift shop and then not spotting any apples for sale asked about them. They evidently had no apples this year as a frost in April killed all the blossoms!
