Holiday Inn Monterrey-Norte

... had signs up for a Monterry-Chicago Fire soccer game. As it would turn out, the two teams were playing in the finals of some minor tournament. The game was in Chicago, but there were no shortage of viewing options in Monterrey, and we settled in to watch amongst a crowd that cheered at all the wrong times :) In a very close game, Monterrey won in a shoot out. <br><br>So that was Monterrey. And then we got back on a bus. <br>

... of back alley in downtown Monterrey. It has a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with AC! All for US$10 per night! Sometimes even though we seem to be taken care of - there's just no peace. Monterrey is a BEAUTIFUL city, although very Americanized. After two more meetings were set up for this weekend, we knew we had to cancel and keep moving. It was confirmed by MANY. The people were not happy, but oh well. On to Tampico!

... got books together and on a drive to the event - suddenly both Rob and I felt that we should not go. When we told eachother, we were shocked to find out that we both felt the same. It was already getting close to dark out. Today, when we talked to Jum, he said "Yesterday was a bad day. There was a shootout where you guys would have been!" I am really thanking the Lord for protecting us! So tomorrow - we head for Tampico, Mexico!

... we were in the city to meet my uncle Packie, who took time out of his busy schedule to show us around and entertain us. It was great to see him and catch up and get to see where he lives and works. He showed us around his schools and we met lots of his friends along the way. I left on New Years Day from Nashville, TN at 6:40 am exactly and arrived in Monterrey, MX at 4:15 pm. (Apparently, there are no direct flights from Nashville to Monterrey). The flight there was a little bit grueling. I didn't sleep the night before and had an energy drink, which made sleeping on the plane difficult. ... its now been three weeks here with my new family in monterrey/sabinas and im loving it! each day its the same, i come home from going out and they greet me in spainish and i smile to myself haha its good. The other day i go to school for half a week to see what it was like, wow! i need to learn spainish, its everywhere and i cant handle not knowing what ppl are saying to me, its so hard in every way! i just get run down mentally jaja like im "drowning in spainish" hahaha

... apparently the tour changes depending on how much water is present in the caves, or how the rocks are. it was slippery in some places but mostly it was just covered in concrete paths. Well... I finally arrived. It's the last time I'll ever take a red-eye flight after drinking with friends and my father at the airport :P Tequila is fun, not before a flight. ha. Then of course, I assume that a shot of whisky straight up will put me to sleep, but god was I ever wrong. lol. finally, i am here! Monterrey is gorgeous .. Somnade vid 10 och vaknade av mig själv vid 7 på morgonen (kl. 14 svensk tid). Det var länge sedan jag vaknade så tidigt av mej själv sist. Dagen har jag spenderat med att mest gå runt och titta i affärer. Var tvungen att ha lite rena kläder, ett sim-kort och lite annat. Monterrey verkar bra hittills. Det är varmt och skönt ...
