The dogs are off to a dear friend's home, the valuables off to mum & dad's and after a decent rest ... off on our exciting adventure to explore and enjoy ...

Leaving the Opera House we ventured down to the hardware store, which had been featured on American Pickers. We met the owner, Mr. Shull, who showed us what appeared to be a metal of some sort on the counter. I looked closely and said "that's a Nobel Prize". ...

One of the newer National Parks is near Columbia and we decided to drive on over. Congaree National Park became a NP in 2003. There is a Visitor Center, primitive camping and a number of trails. We tried a walk on the elevated boardwalk but were turned back by rain. I had an umbrella, but the walk was getting slippery. Well, we didn't want to be so close and not visit.

... Correll walked us down the same road the troops had come in on. He explained the conditions and placement of troops in battle. The Battle of Cowpens was a turning point in the revolutionary war. On the grounds of the National Park site is the Robert Scruggs House, which we visited as well.

After the Battlefield we headed for Greenville for a late lunch and a visit to Falls ...
