MONDAY: We woke to a massive thunderstorm in Florence, with the lightening even very noticeable in our room! Actually it felt like a welcome relief and certainly wasn't cold outside. Not so great in that we had all our bags and cases to navigate across the road to the train station; so out with the umbrellas and after a quick cuppa, by 9am we were hitting the pavement in the downpour.

We sat on one of the benches and ate our meals before getting really yummy iced wine smoothies (our version of Italian wine) which we drunk whilst playing cards. Been very busy last couple of days - just had time to catch up and I am a few days behind. We drove up to the local car ferry in Trezzamo The ferry was quick, we drove on and sat on the top deck for 10 minutes. The hostel where I was staying was pretty hard to find and took quite a bit of walking to get to. Before hitting the hay did my best to make some friends at the hostel. Lots of other travellers were also staying for the F1. Met a Kiwi who seemed like a decent dude. Went on and on about how much travelling he was doing though - I don't like how hostel talk always seems to turn into a contest of who been to more ...
