... in devil ears, 1 batman, 1 Spiderman, a copule dudes in masks, 2 girls with just some random fake blood on their face, 3 poorly represented Village people, and a guy who we think was Peter Pan, but he had cardboard fairy wings so we're not sure. All in all, Halloween ended up being a pretty fun night, but we certainly missed being home for this day! Now we are off to the Rhone Valley for some great wine... in a CAR! Stay tuned.
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... figured this out and got on the right boat - well, a different boat anyhow.

Driving onto the boat we followed the sign that said ‘Embarkments’. I love how so many words in French are similar to what we use in English, but with slightly different meaning. I certainly feel as though I am embarking on something this evening. Something completely new and unplanned - even to us who hardly do ...
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... in a bit of culture. Before it closed, we made sure we went along to the Cezanne/Picasso exhibition, originals and all. The pieces were amazing up close, and we were able to recall some French cultural studies lectures...even though, of course, Picasso wasn't actually French, but we could recognise his influences! Definitely worth noting that the only reason we knew where the exhibition was taking place, was because we'd previously been on the little tourist train ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89... yesterday, Saturday, and it is cooler but still nice. The trip here was spectacular with many olive groves and big mountains. Today we went on a tour to Les Beax - another medieval town with a castle - poor Graham and on his birthday too. Then we went winetasting and to the premier olive oil producers in France. The Mistrql was blowing on the tour and it was very cold but warmer back here in the camp. Tomorrow we explore Aix on foot then we go to Avignon.
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... s the moral of the story, right? So I log on and start catching up on days of e-mail, surfage, hotel reservations, flight reservations, MySpace, FaceBook… ooohhh, God it’s warm in here, nice and cozy. I’m in, Trinity, so what do I do now?

Actually it’s nice and warm all over the south of France, while Paris and environs have already entered the autumn. And so the days pass as ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... miles on and he was still only 3 cars in front of us.

Aix has a gorgeous fountain in a circle named for Charles de Gaulle. The guide book told us that also nearby was a fountain that was naturally hot. Water comes out at 93 degrees and the fountain is covered with moss. The moss part was correct, but I walked over and stuck my hand in the water and it was 50 degrees, tops. The streets and buildings and churches in Aix were all very nice. The orange-yellow ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France 3beansabroad... of Marseille in WWII including most of the housing and the area that had been the original shipping port to the Greeks. The Greeks! That stuff was older than anything in Rome! What a *******.) It was originally designed as a steel building but the steel shortages led to it being rough cast concrete. You can see in some of the pictures the texture that the wood formwork left in the concrete.(Warning: I am going to go on about architecture for a while so ...
Marseille, Provence, France christineraymo... of bread. A nearby bakery donates their stale bread to the hostel. There's nothing like a foot of french crusty bread to get ya rollin' in the morning. Accomodations aside, we decided to go out on the town. We only had to jump on the bus. Seems easy right? Yeah, trying to find an accessible bus and then a driver willing to use the equipment was not an easy feat. We went to the local tourist office and ...
Marseille, Provence, France rachandshan... is a Marseille local and they love him around town. I think he was very generous, etc. Then we went out on a bit of a pub crawl around town, which was lots of fun. Trying our best to communicate with all Matthew's friends who were lovely and tried their best to speak English with us while we just felt bad we couldn't speak any French other than about 5 words. Woke up a little dusty the next morning and had chocolate croissants for brekky... as you do. When in France ...
Wooo...
