Pano Lefkara, Larnaca, Cyprus greekcypriot... was very friendly and helpful. The local beer was very nice. Keo. The waiter showed us some other places on our map to go visit while we walked around. Had a look at a local fruit and vege market which was quite good but much the same as ours only with a few different products like dates, little fish etc. Headed back on the shuttle at 2pm which was long enough. Had a rest and then went to Oasis to watch sail out. Clocks back 1 hour and I don't know why.
Limassol, Cyprus stephgraemeCyprus was never on our list of places to go or see for that matter, as it is so far off coarse. But Cyprus is now where we find ourselves, as this is were boats from Israel land. After all the horns, hustle and bustle that is the Middle East it is quite refreshing to be back in a European country where we don't get asked constantly to look into someone's shop, hassled all day long and Shona can ...
Limassol, Cyprus dinoshona... hard to find a
church, although in retrospect we could have tried a bit harder. We
got into Limassol and once again struggled a bit trying to find the
hotel but we managed. We went out for a wander and lunch and then
had a leisurely afternoon by the pool. That night we discovered the
old castle and tried the meat mezze. It was a nice night and
Limassol proved to be a worthwhile stop in Cyprus.
Limassol, Cyprus lantian1979... Some of the shallow baths had elaborte tile pictures on the bottoms which in their day would have been gorgeous, great attention to detail. We stopped for wine, bread & cheese tasting at a little village in their wine country called Omodos. After that we had a quick look through the shops with their various arts, crafts and jewellery. They specialise in lace work. There was also a ...
Limassol, Cyprus hazdeb... quite new compared to the others, but still nice. The paintings are amazing, but I still don't understand them. The majority of churches are locked up, but there always is St Nikolaos. Simply beautiful the paintingss in there. I saw last year, and once again it reminded me of the churches in Romania. Lucy took a sneaky photo. Oh well, it was her birthday !!! As it got later, we ended up in a little town with another old church ...
Limassol, Cyprus uncle_davros... from me next week when the paper comes in. then Jayne and I would go so she can bring in her passport and do the final step in her visa. This was the second time I called on her cell phone. You'd think that she would call back to say something as she would see missed calls. Calling her office phone I was told that the number is wrong. This is poor service by Maria. Richard called to say that he might be going to New ...
Limassol, Cyprus richlion... number & we felt happy to drift around the buildings which, although very old, have been 'restored' to within an inch of their lives. It's all pristine & beautifully maintained. Despite being a real tourist spot it is still a working monestary & you do see the monks walking around. The church is spectacular filled with icons, gold & silver and heavy with the smoke of incense. After ...
Polis, Cyprus anneowens... a space where there are no cars parked you go. If you see you can't go further you stay behind the parked car until the other guy passes. Naturally, it's too late to correct the situation as buildings have gone up. So it looks like Cypriots and visitors alike have to put up with it. The narrowness is not restricted to roads either - there are many sidewalks that are narrow, too. And to make matters worse they plant palm trees. You either squeeze by the tree and the fense or ...
Limassol, Cyprus richlion... of my childhood when with my parents and especially my dad who used to LOVE TRAVELING like me, would bring us to this village and even spend one or two nights at a certain restaurant for lunch or dinner.. The restaurant owner had one or two rooms to let, and my dad arranged each time we were up here, to spend the night in one, just to be next to the river and hear the ...
