We arrived there late in the afternoon and had only about an hour to explore the fort and museum. As you can see from the pictures, it was a lot different than Fort Necessity. This time we did not escape the rain and had to make use of our umbrellas (or bumper-shoots) midway through the tour. The restoration was incredible and the guides were very knowledgeable and helpful.

There is an amazing set of sliding windows and a gate leading to steps down to the stream off the living room called the Hatch. Apparently Mr. Kaufman was very dubious about this feature, but allowed it to be built and came to think of it as one of the best features of the house.

We had a wonderful time visiting with the Denglers. Bob and Cathy are very hospitable. They made us a delicious grilled chicken meal; our last home cooked meal for the next 35 days. We give Bob & Cathy's Inn 5 stars and highly recommend it to any weary traveler. Our next stop with be South Bend, Indiana. Home of the Fighting ...
