    A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see!     Tampere is 150km north of Helsinki but it's not a particularly exciting drive. The motorway is empty by English standards and the route is largely through featureless forests. The wild lupine on the side of the road ad colour, with large drifts of blue and pink.

    ... we made our way around, booth by booth, we came across one of the food vendors. Pulled pork, sausage, sauerkraut...yes please. So, there we were with a plate of meat, a pint of beer, and a few hundred happy Finns waiting for the hockey game versus Czechoslovakia to start on the television set up in another booth. Once it started, we were no longer tourists, but part of the frenzied crowd cheering on Finland to victory. Why...this calls for more ...

    ... Not sure what to say now..... Ummm.... well I will never forget it......Cramped spaces, old naked guys offering me vodka, a large naked man wearing what looks like an elf's hat (so not fully naked), sitting naked in a sauna while naked men lather themselves in soap.
