We spent a few hours in Helsinki the next day. A nice waterfront area around the old cobblestoned market square. There was a lot of market stalls, selling souvenirs and food. There were several cruise ships tied up as well so there were a lot of people about.

Tampere is 150km north of Helsinki but it's not a particularly exciting drive. The motorway is empty by English standards and the route is largely through featureless forests. The wild lupine on the side of the road ad colour, with large drifts of blue and pink.
