... for all but 14 days of the year
While in Jasper I took the tramway to the top of Mt. something or other - not too scary. More scary was the walk back from the local cinema to my B & B when I encountered Mr and Mrs Elk having a late evening snack on someone's front lawn. He was huge with big ............. antlers! I just had to stop and wait till they trotted off.
Next stop Banff, via Lake Louise and the Columbia Icefield - the bus only had 4 of ...
... and architecture (luckily, I was there just before the first intifada made that unwise for the classes that followed). I joined a Jewish-Palestinian weekly discussion group; I took Arabic classes taught in Hebrew. I went to concerts and explored the city. My roommate took me to visit his grandfather, a right-wing settler outside of Hebron. After the citywide siren on Friday afternoons announcing the Sabbath, I often spent ...
Seattle, Washington, United States rmisaacYesterday was blissfully relaxing. We meandered around and shopped a little bit. Gee, I miss world market. Matt came up and we went to Sushi Revolution - yum. Fun times to be had by all. Had to be at the airport this morning ungodly early. I checked in online, although there wasn't a bag drop, so it really didn't save time.
Seattle, Washington, United States enjyn... Alison. Sad news: received a text message from Mo that Julie B was in the hospital. Called and talk to Julie for a while. She said she was doing okay but would still need to be in the hospital a little while longer. Julie, get better soon. Day 14 - Amy's Birthday!, Seattle, WA - July 4, 2008 - Friday In the morning we went to the REI flagship store and looked around. Fancy store. We purchased 3 ...
Seattle, Washington, United States life-in-a-yurt... did some work on my travel journal and got prepared to move on up the I-5 to Bellingham. It was raining all night. You can imagine how much fun it was walking the dogs!!!!! We are both not impressed with the weather and really don't want this trip to end. I keep threatening to make a sharp right turn and start to head towards eastern Washington to warmer weather and see more areas top explore. Tomorrow we push onto Bellingham.
Kent, Washington, United States shipling... etc... and see his sweet face. They are bursting with anticipation for the moment they get to hold Kai and have skin to skin contact with him. Where our energies are needed are with Kai's platelets. In his short life he has had 3 transfusions to raise their levels. Each time he continues to hold his levels a little longer but he hasn't reached the 200-300 platelet count that is considered "normal range". I do not have any information on what low platelets could mean ...
Seattle, United States wildwoman... procedure in the middle of treatment. I think that catches everyone up to speed. So once again, thanks for all your thoughts, love, prayers, words of comfort, lyrics, support, patience.... Seriously, Mark and I have both been brought to tears several times while reading your thoughtful comments. We love love love you all and are ready to get started NOW. As before, we ask that people leave comments on this page instead of sending direct emails, Thanks!
Seattle, Washington, United States hoshisan... fine dining, indie record shops, book stores, and with one of the highest numbers of millionaires per capita in the US, Redneckville this ain't. Don't believe all the stereotypes you hear about the Mid West. So stocked up on camping gear we continued north west, the corn fields of Iowa and Nebraska turning into the wheat fields and then great plains of South Dakota. It became easy to visualise some of the 60 million buffalo that once grazed this land (they were hunted to near ...
Seattle, Washington, United States benperry... the world's first Starbuck's is located here! I know, I'm such a tourist. We made the obligatory stop at Space Needle which really took about 1 minute to look at and take some pics. But also located in the Seattle Center is the fabulous Experience Music Project (EMP). This was such a fun place. It reminded me of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland but was much better, in my opinion. We enjoyed the Jimi Hendrix exhibit and LOVED the ...
Seattle, Washington, United States joann.hill12... went to Wild Waves for the day; I picked them up in a chauffeured limo and we rode home on the bus. Every kid needs to know: whatever your circumstance in life, you can have a great time! Today, we were riding the DUCKS, WWII amphibious vehicles that went straight from the street to the lake with wheels dangling down. Now, that surely would be a day of fun. But, I hadn't counted on the noise-makers the other passengers-in ...
