... I noticed many of the areas where we had visited during our Route 66 trip, but we weren't visiting this time. We did however stop at a rest area outside Funks Grove, IL. Apparently Funk's Grove was and maybe is famous for it's maple sirup (old time spelling). We lingered at the rest area for about 30 minutes, looking at the Route 66 exhibits inside and out.

We finally arrived at the campground a little after 1 and checked it. We stayed at this ...

Turns out the river gets a little confused about which way to the Gulf of Mexico, so it turns around and heads north for a couple miles right where I crossed. Fun! I may have to 'tough it out' here for a day or two. ... I found out where they get the Walmart customer pictures from: southern Illinois! There is a whole lot of culture going on here! I'm looking for some Scot’s Oats and ask one of the workers here. I think I have totally perplexed her by asking for the International food aisle. She said that they have some Mexican food and rice and the look on her face was priceless. Ah well, we have hit the south!

We have really been enjoying these COE Parks - $12/night for full hookups is hard to beat! Just a couple days' stop here, catching up on laundry and shopping before we head for our friends' Gary & Kathy's house near St. Louis on Thursday.

... br> Compared with yesterday it's a cinch of a day. At dinner we meet 2 newcomers, Dana who did most of the trip in 2010 but was brought down by a fellow rider and broke her elbow and wrist. She has come back with a friend, Sarah, to complete the trip. It's great to have some female company again.

There is talk of a tornado tomorrow. And we thought the weather was crazy in England.
