Spring has sprung in Denton. The trees are leafing up, roses are blooming and wildfowers and birds are everywhere. I walked into Denton this morning, about 2.6km. On the way I found a little piece of Tibet. It is a yoga place so I will be going back there for at least one class, just for the atmosphere. I didn't stop to get another chilli coffee as the café was crowded, so that will be on the list for Monday and Tuesday.... Along the way I happened on 'Sleeping ...

... and Spanish - Texas was a Spanish Colony until the 1800's. I found a great little coffee shop called 'Jupiters' which is a bit like 'The Sweat Shop' back in Townsville used to be. Loads of coffees, smoothies etc and a bohemian atmosphere. Uni students populate this place, all with their laptops, tablets out because it has free wifi. And the shops; there is a dress shop called La De Da where I could buy every dress!!! How unusual. Its sister shop next ...

From our overnight at Lake Hubbard, we drove to Dallas to the George W. Bush Presidential Library, a request from Jimmy. EXCELLENT choice- so interesting, from the first exhibit about the American pastime of baseball ( and ALL the Presidents involvements), to the Response to 9-11 exhibit, and the Oval Office reproduction. Our next stop was to relive November 22, 1963. The sixth floor of the Book Depository building at Dealey Plaza was full of ...

Breakfast at a Tex Mex Place called loco cafe. Excellent intro to Texas with a big black Wrangler Jeep parked right outside. I am addicted to the coffee... already; laced with chilli it left that warm afterglow at the back of the throat after the initial intensity of the coffee. We turned breakfast into brunch with an "overachiever" each of eggs, bacon, potatoes, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. At home there are squirrels in the ...

    Fort Worth Stockyards

We took a 40 minute car trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District - cattle and cowboy country. On arrival Larissa asked what was the smell before we opened the car doors. Of course it was the poo of the cattle and horses. The Stockyards were once the biggest and busiest cattle, horse, mule, hog and sheep marketing centre in the southwest where more than 160 million head of livestock were sold. ...
