... Wisconsin, we proudly donned some cheese heads and Sammy got his picture made with the giant farmer holding cheese and a sausage. You'd have to be there to understand. Minnesota has really taken on environmental issues with hundreds of huge windmills. The last stop of the day was dinner in Sioux Falls, SD. We ate at Bob's made famous in the Roadfood book. It was as described. We love it and the owners. Time for bed. On to Mt Rushmore........
Madison, Wisconsin, United States lindasgibbons... a dry tank. We ended up detouring around some local airport in an industrial area - a very 'interesting' insight into Chicago's suburbs. But at least we found a petrol station in the end.
Going through Chicago itself was fantastic. The skyline is beautiful, and although we got stuck in brutal traffic for over an hour (going at about 10km/hr) this will probably be the only major city we actually ride through. But we were glad to ...
Just got housing information for Valladolid. Looks like everyone is right in the middle of the city. Downtown area. The university isn't too far from where I'm staying...judging by Google Earth. This is a screenshot of the area I'll be in:

Nothing else really. Just preparing for this whole thing. :)
... through their teeth simultaneoulsy, and predictably one woman called out, "but we have a Black President!" At this point we had already diverged from the topic of India's economy and had to get back on track, but our collective gut reaction got me thinking. I've been teaching in DC for 5 years in schools that are in practice almost entirely segregated, but Barack lives 4 ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States jameybarrowsToday we went to Madison, the capital of Wisconsin. We arrived around lunch time, and grabbed a bite to eat at the "Old Market Bistro" across of a building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright who is supposedly the “greatest architect America's” as we later find out.
We then started our sightseeing tour through downtown Madison, and off course we had to visit the Capitol first. We entered through ...
Got to Madison Airport this morning. IT sure is nice flying out of a regional airport. A lady on the plane next to me had her dog in a pet carrier. The dog was very well behaved. I checked an empty shipping case to China, the TSA folks had a few questions about that, but once i explained everything was okay. They told me it all made sense the story i ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States ardisamdave... that too, no trust fund needed. That was two years ago, and here we are, ready to leave on a six month trip to Europe in just over a month. We've done lots of reading, lots of networking, and lots of agonizing over which backpacks to bring. Before we leave I'd like to record more about the preparation process, and then it's time to throw away the checklists and itineraries as we fly off on an Adventure (thanks jshort). C

Madison, Wisconsin, United States teamroadtripSo I graduated! I am no longer a student at UW-Madison, but rather a graduate of Aerospace Engineering. It is wierd to say that. Mom, dad, grandma and grandpa came down for the ceremony and Ivy joined us. The actual ceremony was a good time and they make you feel like cattle when walking across the stage. After all, they have to get about a thousand people through in a short period of time. Graduated, Anders
Madison, Wisconsin, United States anderslost... allowed you to get up close to them. And they made funny faces by pressing their face against the glass wall.
