Hi everyone... it's Monday night (actually it's Tuesday morning China time) and this entry will be a bit longer, as I haven't been able to get to an (Engish) computer in the past five days or so... I'm now in the town of Zhuhai after I crossed the border into China this afternoon... A little aside about China. Of course, I have been in China since the beginning of my trip- so what's this thing about crossing borders? Actually, there are "two Chinas". Hong Kong, Macau, and some other places ar...

... I got cross with someone and the hurried us out the door.

There’s a two foot wide ledge all around the observation deck, and we were all strapped to a bar overhead, but our guide was actually good fun, and the Phillipino boy and the Japanese girls provided endless entertainment with their fear of heights. We sat on the edge, watched the skyjumpers and did a few running jumps of our own, where you ran, jumped (obviously) and ...
Macau Tower, Guangdong, China marymc21... Which is fine and all I guess, but by the time he was done, it was about 2:30am. After I had returned to the hotel, showered and packed in advance, it was already 4:00am - and crazily enough, we decided on a 5:45am start, determined to catch as much of Hong Kong as possible before we pack our bags for home. "We'll see how that goes," I thought as I collapsed onto my bed, happy but totally worn out. The comforts of the hotel had never seemed so necessary until now.
Macau, Macau lilreddot... is evident that the economy here is still growing as crews were working 24/7 on high speed rail lines, high rise apartment buildings and other infrastructure.

In an energy cutting measure, lights along the freeways are turned off on one side of the road.

Censorship is at a peak right now with the anniversary of Tiananmen Square. You can forget about accessing YouTube and other social networks that like to share and bare everything.

Zhuhai, Guangdong, China maaske... brother! We must learn more about this issue to understand what is going on. - The Chinese all work very hard (that is why I have always said you can't out work the Chinese) because from a very young age they are taught that there is limited help from the government when they get old so they must work hard and accumulate enough for their later years. - Note: I have found ...
Zhuhai, Guangdong, China maaske... months down the line! (So expect a package with my jeans, jumpers and coats Mum!) Surprisingly I didn't try any of the casinos, had more fun just walking about exploring the place. Really is a beautiful picturesque place. So the bungy jump! We only found out about this place as Dennis came to Macau especially for it. Sam ended up doing it first, I was so proud - it looked scary as hell 233m up - the tenth tallest tower in the world! 8 second freefall before the bungy ...
Macau, China gamandsiles... a steep hill and descended to the old red-light area, Rua da Felicidade (Happiness Street) now a strip of restored red and white buildings full of little restaurants and curio shops. We continued our stroll past more nice sights until we ended up at the A-Ma Temple where a festival was in full swing, with lion dancers, drummers and even a Chinese Opera. Nearby was a road with several Portuguese restaurants and so we tried one. It was strange having a heavy European meal but a nice change ...
Macau, Macau, China ziniandlulu... it took us a while to figure out which pier we needed and by the time we did, the ferry to Cheung Chau island was boarding. After about an hour on the ferry we arrived at Cheung Chau, an island with no cars, just bicycles for transport and converted tractors to haul waste. There were many walks and hikes on the island and we decided that the quickest way to see it all would be to rent bicycles ...
Cheung Chau, Hong Kong fritsswanepoel... of green, there was also an abundance of wildlife in the national parks. This included termites and green ants, which you can touch and even eat and crocodiles, which of course you cannot. For reasons best known to themselves but I guess its so that they could cram in more sights than any of their competitors...(competition between tour group companies is particularly fierce in the Northern Territories and in ...
Hong Kong, Hong Kong sjones123... I watched a few things including Who Killed the Electric Car? and the horror movie God on my Side. We descended into Hong Kong from the north but we were on the wrong side of the plane for any good views. The airport was well managed as usual and we took some time to buy a SIM card for Belinda and our tourist Octopus cards. Only the blue Lantau taxis would take us to ...
