Heidelberg!!!!!!!!!!!

A while ago during easter my family and i journeyed over to germany for a weekend. The small city is stunning. The nature and suroundings are picturesque. I was along the river and had a wonderful view of all the old houses along the riverside. Of course i also went shopping in the city centre when i was there cause lets face it; im a teenage girl- what do you expect. The trip was rather short but fantastic. I killed my feet though in those two days by walking sooo much. More than 10 miles a ...

On the Road again and back to the past

I am testing my skills! This computer is only in GERMAN! The nerve of them. Not really, it is their country after all. Internet explorer is in German, even my email dates are in German. All the commands are in German. HELP!!!! I have learned that zucken is open the door, go back and sometimes again. One word means three things, and I never know when it means what! It is actually rather fun. Anyway, I digress. We are up early because we have a busy day. We are off to see Rothenburg, then Schwa...

Packing takes time always!

... bailout for getting home from the inevitable "scenic" route. I took one of those in Heidelberg. I'm still not really sure how I ended up on the south edge of town at the end of a different bus route than I got on. But with the day pass, you turn around, get back on, and try again at no additional cost. Second time was a charm, I made it back past my starting point and down to the Altstadt.

The walk up to ...

... the city, its adorable beer taverns, and its gorgeous architecture. But I didn't love it, and I can't quite figure out why. Perhaps I was expecting more, due to the fact that every Germany guidebook touts it as a perfect German fairytale city. But it's also a college town and an industrial town, and the legendary "nightlife" I heard so much about wrapped up at about 10pm. But nonetheless, it's a stunning ...

Castles & Hassles

... Swabian Germany to Bad Wimpfen, where we spent the night. Now, our guidebook said Bad Wimpfen is "a pretty town." I was mid-sentence talking to Matt, and literally stopped and stared at this fortified city on a hill. Matt turned to his right to see what I was staring at and nearly rear-ended the car in front of us. It's that stunning, with a castle tower jutting into the skyline from the hilltop. And let me repeat: Frommers, Lonely Planet, and Let's Go didn't even mention it. Go ...

... of character. Afterwords, we hiked back up to the castle and sat on a bench and watched the sunset. Romantic city.

The next day was reserved for the naked spas in Baden Baden, a town a couple hours south by train. We left early and had plenty of time to wonder around the ritzy, upper class town. Watching our money, we just got a liter of ice cream for lunch and ate in the park. Beautiful day and the leaves ...

... out to find some food! Luckily there was an authentic Bavarian restaurant nearby, where we managed to sample some local cuisine of sausages, sauerkraut, some yet to be identified meat and beer.

Reluctantly we made our way back to the hostel where we found everyone else asleep so we had to crawl into our beds, making as little noise as possible, which isn't easy when you have the noisiest bunk beds in the building!

... It's different in Europe.) Yay for American (diet) soda!! I just love it. And as far as vices go, I think I could do worse... Well, since I was lazy this is a pretty boring entry, but it was nice to spend some time with Andy and Melanie so that part was good. After all that lazing around I jumped on a quick flight to Pisa, Italy and got back to it...
