We're in Burgundy drinking Pinot Noir...

... really got what, but it all tasted good.

Our trip to Burgundy would not be complete without a stop in Nuit-St. George, where we again employed the "look for the sign of whoever is open" tactic and were not dissapointed. We got to try some excellent Pinot, C******nay, and even some Aligote (a white that they mix with Creme de Cassis for an aperitif) from some of the local producers.
Now its up to Champagne!

A weekend in wine country

... station we could understand that played the same few songs every hour. I was very happy to finally be back in Paris and riding the metro home! I don't think I will be making any road trips any time soon.

Beaune was a beautiful city despite the weather and I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about traveling abroad to take a day or two and see the country instead of staying put in a city. Its not always the easiest option but definitely a different experience.

Dijon is not playing fair

... platform until 15 minutes before and my train was very long, it took almost five minites to get to the last carriage. It was the secnd TGV train I have been on (the first was from Luxembourg to Paris. They are the fastest trains in the world. I have been told that the most recent trial had the train travelling faster than a plane (however the rails couldn't handle it).
From Paris to Dijon it only tok an hour and a half, the Ice trains in Germany would have taken at least ...

Update from P and D

... we moved on. After enjoying such wonderful hospitality, saying goodbye was a real wrench.

14th July 09 Celle 52.37'41"N 10.4'22"E

Gerd had taken us here and it was such an old and picturesque town that we thought we would spend a few days here. When we arrived a huge fair was setting up adjacent to the aire. We were looking forward to it's opening on Friday but, thanks to British motorhome design and our reluctance to spend, had to leave ...

All the way to Burgundy

The journey from Dunkirk went well. Soon we were on the A25 to Lille and soon enough after on the A26 to Reims; the miles smoothed away. We stopped occasionally at services - which the French do better than anyone else - and came off the motorway for a short while at Chalons en Champagne to fill up more cheaply. This little excursion was made especially interesting by a brief attempt on my part to drive on the left - it ...

Dijon & the Cote D'Or

... fried camembert with blackcurrant sauce. For the main I had a giant salad, and Mr S Beef Burgundy. Day 3 Decided to head to Beaune today. Got to the tourist office and saw they were doing a winetasting/sightseeing tour and decided to join in with that. We visited several towns along the Cote d-Or, the wine-growing slope near Beaune, and sampled some grapes straight from the vine at a local vineyard. Stopped in a place where our ...

Le réflexe squat

Conclusion and Travel Tips for Brussels

... destinations they are not always the cheapest option, but they do offer discount cards and special month long passes to where you can travel for as long as you want to for a month for free, all you just pay for is the month pass, but you have to use it within the dates that they write down. You could also fly in with Ryan Air, I'm sure for not too much, or you could get a cheap flight with Air France. The important food delicacies you want to try in Belgium are ...

La Vie Francaise!

... MUCH bigger than my dorm was at MU this year. It has a sink (but no bidet, sorry Mom and Dad), a HUGE closet, and fairly comfortable bed. The shower is kinda funny, since you have to keep pressing a button to keep the water running, but at least it's warm! The French students are still here, and will be for about 2 more weeks. Before we left, the directors of the trip told us not to say "hi" to other people as we passed by, because that's considered forward. But ...
