... My Darling down a track that even most four wheel drivers would find challenging. Not only once but 4 times including once in the dark. The reward was the beautiful African Ivory Route Camp site at the base of the mountains. Tents set up we made our way back into town for local culture. We were warned that we would become instant celebrities just by being on the big white truck. Sure enough as we slowly made our way through the streets ...

You could see the types of trees change from flat spread tops to peaking evergreens. Potholes were increasing as we ascended. I asked Annie, Akash, and Lindsay if anyone wanted to drive for a bit and Akash was ready for the challenge! He drove for a bit and agreed with me ...

And definitely a "must-do" in South Africa.

First off we get there by calling the cab who dropped me off from the airport previously. He charged us 100 Rand total for ...

So far I am the only one from Des Moines University here. I have no idea when exactly the others are supposed to show up. I do know three should arrive today sometime and two on Sunday. Right now I can't wait for them to get here since I've realize the whole traveling-internationally-by-myself thing really isn't for me. In the mean time I get settled in. Unpack all of my things. Actually organize them (so unlike me), ...

... bus while Norah took her better chances hiking. I would pay more, but perhaps it wasn’t my day today and I didn’t want to see her held back because of me. Our car hadn’t come along and perhaps I should cut our losses and make the best alternative plan. But Norah wouldn’t accept this as a possibility. If she was going, I was going, and she assured me that I just needed to have some patience and certainly our car would come along. Sure enough a while later a ...
