Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa michaelspikef... hills, Nikki and I went to a Zulu village. In the village we were shown a cooking hut and a resting/sitting hut. Afterwards, the people of the village performed a traditional wedding ceremony. The spoke in English and Zulu. The dancing was very unique and they ended singing a lovely goodbye song. The harmonizing of their voices was beautiful.
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa whitneyhl... Lisbeth and Maria, whom I met at a concert at the UKZN Jazz Centre several weeks before. We went back to Port Shepstone to have dinner before heading to our separate lodgings for the night. We met up in the morning for breakfast and then headed to the Lake Eland Game Reserve. Unfortunately, we had a really hard time getting close enough to any of the animals to get decent photographs. We did take in some ...

Of course, the time slots are all during the day and early evening when power consumption is at its peak. Johannesburg, South Africa tonyandmarina... an unfriendly, isolated place, with people literally barracaded away from the outside, violent, world. There is a repressiveness and foreboding around every corner. Most people live there with a very real sense of pressure and fear everyday. Missed the folk in Zim but was a welcome break from the not so friendly or welcoming aspects !
Johannesburg, South Africa mdishley... pretty good. We managed to see quite a few animals, but sadly no lions or leopars which is what I was really hoping to see. On the last day we got moved to a 5* lodge with a chimpanzee sanctuary, so that was really nice. As I'm travelling alone and was the only girl in the group doing so I got a room all to myself and everyone else was in twins. I had a massive bed and it was so comfortable - it ...
