      Great Value, Great Hotel

Nine of us stayed in this hotel on the night before we left for our cruise and it was great. We stayed on the 6th floor which was newly renovated. The beds were extremely comfortable and my husband and kids loved the flat screen TV. The room was also immaculate, which earns big points from me. The kids loved the pool area and we had a lovely breakfast buffet before we left (kids ate free). I wanted to stay at this hotel on our post-cruise night also, but was vetoed by brother-in-law, who had fishing trip lined up in Ft. Lauderdale at the end of our vacation. I should have listed to my instincts, because the Hyatt Pier 66 was awful. In any case, big thumbs up to the Holiday Inn!!

The staff was so friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. The shuttle service to/from the airport was on time and the drivers were so helpful. This is a great place to stay.

      Great service /friendly staff

Booked precruise a 2night stay with priority club points. due to delay out of my control(delta overbooking) and after cancelation time i could not make use of first night at this hotel. what a pleasnat surprise the next day. all staff was understandable and i was not charged either in cash or points for the first night. Thats what i call great service. besides this all staff members are really friendly, i stayed at room 620, executive floor, a very upgraded room u would rather expect to find at 4* and plus hotels. big room, nice equipped, sitting area, flat screen tv. nice pool area with waterfall enough towels/beds and a cozy terrace where karin serves u nice cocktails. True its a remote area, just a dennys nearby next to i-95. free shuttle on request ex fll. to port there isn a shuttle at 10uss a person, a taxi would be about same rate (20Uss) by the way...

all in all a new a good value for money hotel.

Head First at the Holiday Inn

We flew in Ft. Lauderdale Airport and stayed one night at the Ft. Lauderdale Holiday Inn Airport which was a fantastic start to our vacation. We had to catch a cruise the following day at the port of Miami.

Prior to our stay, I e-mailed them with questions regarding transportation to the port of Miami and they replied expeditiously with names and numbers. I also noted on my reservation notes, due to traveling with my 2 sons I requested a larger end room.

      CHECK IN:

Even though we were checking in late at night we were happily greeted.

When we walked in our room, they were kind enough to give us exactly what I had asked for at no additonal charge! It was very spacious with a microwave, kitchen table, sink, etc. The room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable!

The location was perfect and we actually walked to Denny's the next morning for breakfast. It's right across the street.

      THE POOL:

We were not leaving until around 1PM so we requested for a late check out and took advantage of the beautiful pool. My youngest son, 4yrs old, got so excited he ran over to the pool and jumped in head first into the deep end! I dropped my 2 armfulls of belongings, sprinted like I was Flo Joe, and jumped into the pool fully clothed! I grabbed him immediately and he was totally fine. When I got out, there was a standing ovation from the people eating breakfast on the outdoor patio as I stood there drenched with mascara rolling down my face! The pool was very tropical. It had a canyon waterfall and tropical foliage.

I can see how they are recognized for their unbeatable customer service. I would definitely stay again.

      So Nice!!

I ended up staying overnight in Ft. Lauderdale because of my plane's mechanical difficulties. The airline put me up at this hotel. It was the only nice thing they did for me!

I didn't get to the hotel until about 10:30PM, and the kitchen was already closed. When they saw that I was really tired and very hungry, Harlan (?) the General Manager and Aaron, the restaurant manager, opened the kitchen back up to make me some food! Then, they brought it up to my room so I could go ahead up and relax a little.

My room was clean and beautiful, the bed was ultra-comfy. The shuttle was waiting for me in the morning to get me back to the airport, right on time. I can't say enough great things about this place!

      Great Place for Pre Cruise

I booked at the Holiday Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport because of it's shuttle and the good price. My room was plenty spacious with a sofa, easy chair, dining table and mini kitchen. The bath was good size and staff very helpful and friendly. A Denny's was across the street which made a nice stretch after a long flight. They do have their own resturant on the property. Oakwood shopping center is a short distance away and is also close to the Everglades port.

      Great Pre cruise Hotel

We stayed at this hotel in prior to a cruise in 2003 and were very happy with the hotel. The service was great. All of the the front desk staff were very helpful and arranged transportation to Port Everglades the following day. The room was very nice and clean, as was the entire hotel. We will be staying there again this year prior to our next cruise. I highly recomend this hotel!

      Clean hotel with good service.

Stayed one night before jumping on a plane in the morning back in April '04. We were able to take advantage of the neat pool and hot tub (kids loved the water falls). Unfortunately they had a private party on the pool-side deck which kind of made us feel "put out" (noisey and had to use a side door to get to the pool)

The rooms were clean and comfortable (beds were awesome), standard otherwise. Convience store adjacent to the hotel property was great for snacks and gas. Beach isn't too far away(approx. 15 minutes). One of the main reasons we stayed was the free shuttle service to the airport. Since my party had to return two rentals the day before our departure, the shuttle back from dropping off the vehicles, and then the next morning was a huge plus! Though be careful to leave yourself enough time before any flight (they tend to overbook their shuttles!)

All in all, a great stay and good rates. Would highly recommend for short stays (closer to the water otherwise).

Stay at the Holiday Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport!

More than clean, comfortable and reasonably-priced -- they have real customer service!

We stayed at this hotel based on our experience with the Holiday Inn chain, as well as price and convenience. The hotel is very clean and is reasonably-priced for the area. We stayed one night prior to departing for a cruise.

The hotel provides free shuttle service to/from Ft. Lauderdale airport, and also provides shuttle service to the cruise port (Port Everglades) for a small fee (currently $6/person -- cheaper than cab fare).

We were very pleased with the service, but this hotel really won our hearts the day we returned from the cruise but had an evening flight. I didn't know the airline would not check our bags until 4 hours before flight time. We arrived at the airport at 10am, but couldn't check bags until 3pm. Rather than dragging 4 suitcases around the airport (and sitting in airport chairs and eating airport food), I phone the hotel and asked if they'd be willing to store our luggage while we had lunch.

The hotel manager said, "Sure," sent the shuttle to pick us up (at no charge), locked-up our bags so we could have lunch at a nearby restaurant (within a short walk), and also allowed us to use the business center to access our email.

"Customer Service" is a catch-phrase being mouthed by almost every company today. This hotel puts actions behind the words. We are going to recommend it to everyone in the area, and will certainly stay here again on our travels to the area.

P.S. It has a beautiful, resort-like pool area and you can eat meals poolside. Free high-speed internet access in the business center.

... for Bob we ventured down Calle Ocho into the heart of Miami's Little Havana. Using my phone as a guide, we managed to see most of the recommended 'sights':13th Avenue green and cool and lined with monuments to among others, Jose Marti and the soldiers of the Bay of Pigs invasion, the walk of the stars, and the well-known Maximo Gomez, popularly known as Domino Park where the formerly all-male ranks have been joined by women.

... horribly irritating. Once there, you can expect to have to stand in line-ups that make no sense for up to, or possibly more than, one-and-a-half hours.

Toronto Island Airport takes all of these problems away. For Elenka and I, who live right in the city, it's a short tram-ride away. In the departure lounge you can chow-down on cappuccinos and cookies, all ...

... we have different expectations for this trip. Internet is going to be limited to the couch closest to the reception desk at the hotel in Havana so I'll try my best to post while there. Cienfuegos will have no internet whatsoever. I plan on keeping a written journal, and those entries will then be posted here either when I return to Havana or when I get to Miami Beach. As always, thanks for ...

... own place, parents don't worry about random Americans rocking up at the door ha). Jen and Ed got back to us straight away and agreed to put us up. They live in a gorgeous little village, full of desperate housewives style houses. We even had to pass a security gate to get in, well posh! We were made to feel welcome immediately by our lovely hosts, who had conveniently just started grilling steak when we arrived. The house was absolutely beautiful inside, with a netted patio ...
