Picked up the hire car at 9am sat morning from the worst hire company, the car wasn't clean, the tyre pressure was dodgy and they hadn't even filled the car with 'gas', So we had to find the other hire company in SF.

California is definitely way different from Miami. It's for sure a place I can see myself moving to for a year or so just for the adventure. My next trip is being planned for around September.

... learned is that driving is the only way to see the Southwest. We were able to get into some very interesting places and enjoy some wonderful scenery that we couldn’t have experienced with public transportation. So, the main piece of advice for anyone planning a Southwest trip is to rent a car and get a good road map before leaving.
