We had another awesome day at Gettysburg. First stop, Culp's Hill. As you drive up to Culp's Hill, there are markers indicating the various positions of the Union Army. I was astounded at how heavily Culp's Hill was defended by the Union. Ultimately, the Union would hold the hill.

... Bahrain. The school week runs Sunday - Thursday, as the Muslim weekend falls on Friday and Saturday. I will be living in a teaching compound near the school in a 2 bedroom apartment (with a roommate - another teacher from the school. I won't find out who my roommate is until I arrive). I don't have any pictures of the apartment to share yet, but I'm told we each have en-suite bathrooms, queen-size beds, a washer ...

Paula Renfro, who served as our photo organizer and all-around technology expert, brought her wisdom, her deep faith and her wonderful laugh! She assisted in the seminary Pastor Training, painted, sanded and in general did any and all tasks with great humor and a loving heart. She was deeply moved by the experience of washing the feet of the widows in Massinga and her retelling of that moment touched us all.

... we weren't able to take any official sabbaticals. Those of you who know Sonia know she works in international development and while she won't be officially working for an INGO (International Non-Governmental Organization) while we are on the road, chances are she may be doing some kind of light ad hoc consulting. That said, nothing is planned so far and both of us are looking forward to recharging our batteries and enjoying this time off.
