... we reached Gettysburg, the site of the most famous and bloody battle of the US Civil War. During 3 days on July 1863 some 46 thousand soldiers (about 30% of the numbers on both armies) died on some 30 miles of battlefield.
Many monuments and cemeteries and a battle museum.
From there a short motorway drive to Frederick, Maryland where we are spending the night.

Starting time tomorrow is at 7.

Wilma and Steve came to get me at Dulles airport, we talked a lot, so nice to see them again. I was here 15 years ago, and I kind of remembered things, but not completely...
The house is still so nicely nestled amongst the trees, the "deck" (the terrace at the back) is now finished and has many feathered visitors (I still have to see a Cardinal and a Blue Jay) ...

... look into Walmart for general drugs. We needed Doxycycline for Malaria and the local CVS (even with insurance!) was over $100 for each of us. Walmart fixed us both up for $55 total -- without insurance. Something definitely needs to be fixed medical insurance-land.

For shoes we have a good pair of sandals (Chacos) and some hiking boots. I wondered about the hiking boots, but they've already ...

Since she was so well behaved we took her to one of the local swimming pools. She is turning into a fish. I just wish she would let us try to teach her how to swim better. She is so anxious to swim she won't listen to directions. She wants to be an Olympic swimmer but hasn't learned the basics yet. When she starts to catch on to all the basics ...
