OK we have done the final gather of "stuff"....from spatulas to spare batterys and have the Honda Oddessey preliminarily packed for the big adventure! We start tomorrow after Tom works the morning and Maria gets home from a half day of school. We can't wait!
The plan is to drive to Indy and drop the kids and Lauren off at the Indianapolis Zoo while Tish and I pick up the RV and do an orientation......a TWO HOUR orientation! They ...
Oh, lovely Fort Wayne. I was lucky enough to drive there from Chicago. The drive there was fine, but then the blizzards hit and the temperatures dropped. I'm not sure I can remember being in weather that cold. So that alone, will always make Fort Wayne very memorable. It was very similar temperatures to ...
Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States bono4meIt is Saturday night, early, only about 7pm, and we just finished packing for our vacation. We didn't get anything ready early because this vacation was a surprise for the kids. We planned the whole vacation and kept it a secret from the kids until last night, when we sprung it on them out of the blue. They were certainly surprised and looking forward ...
Convoy, Ohio, United States kellyfromohio... raining until we decided to stop and rest of the night at Fort Wayne (Indiana). Not much of a nice place, especially with the strippers club next to the hotel and the people walking around the hotel. Sufficient to say this ain't no Ohio Amish country any more! What we did find next to the hotel was a Barnes & Noble book store and finally managed to buy some good books to read, including a couple of Bill Bryson ones recommended by Veronika's friend Anne.
Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States veromarcosThe 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays right up there with Thanksgiving. Holidays always make me think of spending time with my family. Now that I am leaving for Paraguay soon, for who knows how long, I am going to have less of these times with the crazyness that is my family. This causes me to think about the enormity of the plan that I have put into ...
Paulding, Ohio, United States missionsgirlMy desire to begin an extraordinary journey has been burning for some time, and, although all of the pieces are not fully connected, the ideas and images in my mind strike me as full reality. I could not even tell you from where this inclination to explore has come, nor to where it will lead. I do know that just pondering limestone cliffs over crystal blue waters is ...
Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States dlinsmey... tour of Porto Rafti (which literally means "Port of Tailors"). We walked down to the sea, and then wandered back to the hotel. The Artemis has rooms set up in an Apartment style...each has a bathroom, kitchen, one or two bedrooms, a living room, and balconies! Our balcony faces the mountain that I have yet to climb. :) They let us go to bed after eating a Greek meal.
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States vagabond07... both, so I ordered a slice of pizza. There was NO PIZZA!! I couldn't believe it! I ended up having a bratwurst with saurkraut-good, but not what I really wanted.
We headed out of the city at about 2:00 and made it to a campsite in Indiana near Fort Wayne. The highlight of the evening was when we decided to bring the laptop into the tent to watch some 'That 70's Show'!

... the speedway from Chicago, a pleasant enough trip and interesting that you are surrounded by 'Corn' fields the minute you cross into Indiana. The traffic slowly grew thicker as we approached and you got the feeling you were in amongst a petrol-head frenzy. The Speedway looks like a football stadium as you approach, it does not have the circuit feel of the tracks I have known in the UK such as Oulton Park and ...
