The REAL wild west

A travel blog entry by hannykin12

... the towns claim to fame. There are lots of novelty shops, staged gun fights and tours that happen. The population was once 14,000 but now sits around 1500 and most of the people who live there make theyre living off tourists. It was definately like stepping into the wild west or a western movie, I absolutely loved it! Unfortunately we eventually had to get on the bus for a long drive to Pheonix! ...

Copper mine and Boothill Cemetery

A travel blog entry by omar1957

We left the hotel and went into a local copper mine tour. We had to have hard hats and yellow jackets and then got a little train which took us 1,500 feet below ground. On our way back to the airport we went through Tombstone again and stopped off at Boothill Cemetery which had the graves of a lot of the wild west cowboys. Then it was the drive back up to Phoenix Skyport which we did in good time. Just the long plane flight home and the jet lag to look forward to but what a ...

We REALLY liked it here but pool heat was not working.

    from rdrunr

We really liked it but kids were upset because the pool heat was not working and it was Feb. The motel was clean and lobby was really nice. The service at the front deck was good and there were cowboys there talking about the wild west days of Tombstone in the cowboy garb. These guys were VERY entertaining and carrying real loaded pistols in the motel! I would stay here again and the views from here are really nice with unbelivable sunsets! WE LOVE TOMBSTONE!

    Noisy but clean

    from LynnSanDiego

Stayed here February 2005. Bad attributes: The halls were very noisy with people returning from the Tombstone bars at all hours of the night. Ice machine in the hall was very noisy. Good attributes: The rooms were clean. Staff was pleasant and courteous. The free continental breakfast was fine. The best part of the stay were the town folks coming to the lounge to talk about the history of Tombstone and Wyatt Earp. They come a couple of times a month to spend their free time chatting with the tourists at the hotel. They've lived in Tombstone most of their lives and having them share their experiences and history was a real treat.

It is best hotel in tombstone, hollidayinn is awesome, we will stay again

    good staff, excellent brekfast

    Not what I expected.

    from anonymous

While the Holiday Inn Express is newer, it does not have the true southwestern character of its competitor next door - Best Western. They didn't have my reservation at first and were going to charge more than my confirmed rate. The pool was right outside the entrance and alongside the parking lot. A large and loud party was going on outside in an open area that really was not set up for entertaining. People came and went up and down the hallway, banging doors and talking loudly. The breakfast buffet was adequate but the seating was not. Not a place I would stay again.

A great place to stay in Tombstone

    from Patiod

Nice room right outside town, great pool (unbeatable view), free "express breakfast", popcorn & movies at night, and a little patio out back where you can sit and look at the stars (I live near car lots at home, so I rarely can SEE stars). And excellent prices.

Only complaints: room could have been a little cleaner (it wasn't dirty, but it wasn't perfect), and they had chimineas out back on the patio, but not wood or charcoal in them to have a fire for those nippy desert evenings.

    But a great experience overall.

    FAB-U-Lous

    from anonymous

This is the finest hotel we stayed at in the Southwest....The property is georgeous and the views magnificient! So much to learn and do in Tombstone. We visited Bisbee and the wineries in Sonoita. Dont take your chances with the other hotels in town... looked very sub par.

    Fabolous

    from anonymous

My wife and I have travled many western towns and have to say, the Holiday Inn Tombstone was awesome! Probably the best hotel we have stayed at in all of Arizona. Be sure to visit Bisbee when you get there as well, it is only a short drive via auto.

    Loved our stay

The hotel was wonderful and the front desk staff was very helpful. It was a beautiful place and loved everything about it.
