      Picked Jacob up in Monterey and headed straight to Big Sur. It was nothing that I had imagined. I was expecting lil beach towns with beach combers galore, quite the contrary. There were vacationers, but sparse. The place had a local vibe to it more than a touristy one. There were maybe 4 gas station/stores along the 70 mile stretch of Hwy 1.
